Unreal Engine 5 has been a major topic of discussion in the gaming community. It is the latest version of Epic Games’ popular game engine, and it promises to deliver a new level of photorealism and performance in modern games. With its ability to render stunning visuals, UE5 has the potential to revolutionize the gaming industry. But what does this mean for the future of gaming? With Unreal Engine 5, game developers will be able to create more realistic and immersive worlds than ever before. The engine’s advanced lighting system and dynamic global illumination provide an unparalleled level of detail and depth to the environment with incredibly detailed models without sacrificing performance. Neo Berlin 2087, the upcoming game that is set to run on Unreal Engine 5, has been making waves. The announcement trailer of the game was not received well by the gaming community. All the graphical capabilities of Unreal Engine 5 were seen in the trailer of the game, in fact, one would even agree that it was all that the devs had to show. So what exactly went wrong? Why are fans disappointed? Keep reading to find out!
But who are these “devs” that we speak of here? Well, brace yourself because the name is pretty obscure and one that you might not have heard before, Elysium Game Studio. This studio is based out of Berlin, Germany, and was founded in 2019 by Ivan Mirkovikj. Heading out to the Studio’s official webpage does not yield much information either. In fact, the studio has not even put out a single game yet and Neo Berlin 2087 is all that shows up on their website. You would be surprised to know that Neo Berlin 2087 was first revealed on the PlayStation YouTube channel in the summer of 2021, but it was initially called “Shadow of Conspiracy Section 2.” The initial trailer was similar to the one released recently. Now, it would be too early to disregard the credibility of this studio or the game but the trailers, the reaction it got from the fans, and the fact that the game surfaced under a different name in the past would surely make you think otherwise.
Neo Berlin 2087 Trailer disappointed fans due to poor gameplay mechanics & low frame rates
Fans were left disappointed after the announcement trailer for Neo Berlin 2087 was released recently. The disappointment stems from the fact that the entire trailer appeared to be more of an Unreal Engine 5 demo rather than a fully-fledged and thought-out game. Despite showcasing the engine’s capabilities, the amount of reflection and lighting overwhelmed the viewers. It stuck out like a sore thumb making it feel more like a tech demo than a game trailer. On top of that, the significant drop in frame rates at multiple sections of the trailer did not bode well with the fans. Adding insult to injury, the gameplay mechanics themselves did not seem innovative or engaging, appearing to be as basic as any average shooter game. There was nothing in particular that stood out from the trailer to pique the interest of gamers. And finally, a nail in the coffin was hammered when a literal mouse cursor showed up at certain sections of the “gameplay trailer,” leaving fans more disappointed than ever.
So what could have been done better? Well, to start off, the developers could have ensured that the trailer was presentable with no frame drops. It’s understandable that the game is still in development, but putting out a trailer with significant frame rate drops is simply unacceptable. Additionally, the trailer lacked meaningful content, with the majority of it being a slow-motion montage of running and shooting, which failed to showcase any innovative gameplay mechanics or story elements.
Instead, the developers could have focused on demonstrating the game’s unique features and gameplay mechanics, rather than relying solely on the engine’s advanced graphics capabilities. Finally, releasing an unpolished trailer can often do more harm than good for both the developers and the game. Therefore, it would have been better for the developers to hold off on releasing anything until they had something substantial to show, rather than just a rendered demo of the gameplay. By doing so, they could have avoided disappointing their fans and potentially damaging the game’s reputation before the release. And that’s a wrap on our take on why the trailer for Neo Berlin 2087 left fans disappointed. For more gaming reads like this, make sure to follow Digistatement.
