New Digimon Adventure anime has been announced in the March issue of Shueisha’s V Jump. The anime series is titled Digimon Adventure, and it will be a reboot of the Digimon franchise.
The new anime will take place in 2020, featuring a brand new story of centering around Taichi Yagami when he is in his fifth year of elementary school. The story begins when one-day, Taichi prepares for a weekend summer camp at his home in Tokyo City, and an incident happens. His mother and sister Hikari get stuck on a train. To help them, Taichi heads to Shibuya. On his way, he encounters a mysterious phenomenon that puts him into the World beyond the network, the Digital world with other chosen children.
Toei Animation is handling the production of the anime under the direction of Masato Mitsuke. Atsuhiro Tomioka is supervising the series scripts, and Katsuyoshi is returning as a lead character designer. A new trading card game for the franchise will also launch this spring.
First Episode of Digimon Adventure will premiere on Fuji TV and other channels in Japan in April. The series will air every Sunday at 9:00 a.m by replacing GeGeGe No Kitaro, which is in its final arc.
