Pokemon Home is a cloud-based trading and collection app for all your pokemon that you have collected over various games and generations of consoles. It currently supports transfers from Sword & Shield, Pokemon Go, and the older PokeBank from the Nintendo 3DS generation of consoles. Pokemon Home was developed for users in a new generation of collection, storage, and trading of Pokemon, similar to the previously mentioned PokeBank. It currently has features to support the transfer of pokemon from the PokeBank and newer games. You cannot, however, transfer Pokemon back to the PokeBank or any other game through the use of this app except for some older Nintendo 3DS titles. The game has a collection and storage system which calculates a certain number of points for spending time in the app or for having a certain number of trades of some rare and collectible pokemon on the app. It is not fully understood what gives points and how they are given and even Nintendo does not care to describe it very well.

From our understanding of how Pokemon Home works, the more time spent in the app usually means the more points you receive. If you have a certain number of pokemon, engage in pokemon battles, or complete trades and quests you are awarded additional points above and beyond what you would have gotten for spending a set amount of time on the app anyway. These points are awarded based on player level and the number of pokemon collected as well. It is a confusing system but it has its benefits. With the newer games, evolving pokemon beyond certain forms requires the use of special items that cannot be acquired normally and have to be purchased from a store.
Pokemon Home points convert neatly into Battle Points which can be used to purchase these hard to acquire items from the store. A set number of Pokemon Home points convert to one Battle Point. Additionally, Battle Points can be acquired through taking part in pokemon battles, winning in pokemon battles, and in high-value trades. All of these activities have a chance of dropping battle points in addition to a generous helping of Pokemon Home points for the player.
