The story starts with a mysterious phenomenon where everyone gets wiped out by fog and the city of Tokyo is infested by supernatural creatures from folklore. You play as Akito who is also affected by the fog but somehow manages to stay alive along with KK, an unknown spirit who has inhabited his body. Together they work as one unit to solve the mystery and save the city.
Throughout the gameplay, you can eliminate these entities by using your poltergeist powers, abilities, and spells known as Ethereal Weaving, a mystic art where you can channel wind, fire, and water. You’ll come across various ghosts like walkers, kuchisake, and more. Players can traverse around the city by using a whip to latch to youkai and has parkour elements that let you move around the rooftops in a fluid manner.
