WWE 2K24 GRAPHICS_DEVICE_REMOVED Error: Is there any fix yet

WWE 2K24 continues the long-running WWE 2K series with its official release on March 8, 2024. Available on all major platforms except for the Nintendo Switch, the game’s received pretty positive reviews from critics so far, with many appreciating the return of match types like Gauntlet, Casket, Special Guest Referee matches, and more. However, there’s a myriad of issues currently plaguing the game, and a major one happens to be the GRAPHICS_DEVICE_REMOVED error.

This is particularly a graphics driver-related issue. As such, there are a number of workarounds that you can use to resolve this issue. So, let’s go ahead and find out what kind of workarounds can help you deal with this GRAPHICS_DEVICE_REMOVED error.

For now, players will have to use the following workarounds to deal with this issue. Try these and see if any of them are of help.

Run the game in Compatibility Mode –

A probable cause behind this issue could be that WWE 2K24 is simply having some compatibility issues. Running it in compatibility mode is the most apt fix for that. You just need to:

  • Open Steam and navigate to the Steam Library. Find WWE 2K24 and right-click on it to select Manage > Browse local files.
  • Find WWE 2K24’s .exe file in the game’s installation directory and right-click on it.
  • Select Properties and switch to the Compatibility tab. Check the Run this program in compatibility mode for option and select Windows 7 from the drop-down menu.
  • End the process by clicking on Apply and OK.
  • Additionally, if Windows 7 doesn’t work, try other options from the drop-down menu.

Disable Overclocking –

If you happen to have overclocked your GPU and CPU, we suggest that you disable these changes. A lot of times, overclocking has been found as the primary reason for this issue, so reverting the changes should help you deal with this issue. However, if the issue persists, check out another workaround.

Update drivers –

Make sure that your drivers are updated to the latest version. Doing so will be of big help in avoiding a lot of driver-related issues, including this one. And while you are at it, don’t forget to update WWE 2K24 and Windows too.

Ensure that WWE 2K24 is running on a dedicated Graphics card –

This particular issue could also be the result of WWE 2K24 not using the dedicated GPU to run the game. As such, what you should do is open Windows Settings and navigate to Display > Graphics. Next, check if WWE 2K24 is on the list below. If it isn’t, click on Browse and add the game. Now, select WWE 2K24 and click on Options. Choose High Performance from the options presented and select Save.

Verify the game files –

A pretty common fix to deal with a myriad of issues including this one is to simply verify and repair the game files. Essentially, what you need to do is open Steam and navigate to Steam Library. From there, right-click on WWE 2K24 and select Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files.

Create TdrLevel –

Players can also try creating a TdrLevel in the Windows Registry and see if that helps. For this, you will need to:

  • Open Registry Editor as an administrator.
  • Next, head to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > System > CurrentControlSet > Control > GraphicsDrivers.
  • Now, right-click in a blank space and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value. Name the file TdrLevel.
  • Double-click on the recently created file and choose Modify.
  • Make sure that the value is set to 0.
  • Now, restart your PC and then launch the game.

And that’s all the workarounds we have for this issue. Additionally, you can also take a quick look here if the game keeps crashing on your Deck. Lastly, for more such content, keep following DigiStatement. Also read: WWE 2K24 Save File Nightmare DLC Missing Issue: Is there any fix yet
