WWE 2K24 is the latest title from developer Visual Concepts. Released on March 8, 2024, WWE 2K24 boasts a roster of over 200 wrestling personalities along with new match types like Gauntlet, Ambulance matches, Guest Casket and many more. And as fun as the game is, it’s not without its fair share of issues. In fact, a lot of players have been complaining about an issue where the game simply crashes after connecting a controller.
Well, we don’t really know what’s the main cause behind this issue. Anything from Steam Input to a faulty controller could be the cause here. Whatever the cause may be, we can’t just let this issue remain unfixed. So, let’s go ahead and find out all the workarounds to resolve this issue.
WWE 2K24 Game Crashing after connecting controller: Is there any fix yet
Players will have to make do with the following workarounds to resolve this issue. Try these and see if any of them are of help.
Update –
Before trying out any workaround, we highly suggest that you use the update method. Make sure that the game is running on the latest version available, along with both Windows and your GPU drivers. And most important of all, check if there’s a firmware update available for your controllers. If there’s one, download and install the update.
Disable Steam Input –
For some players disabling Steam Input was what helped them fix this issue. And if you haven’t used this method, we suggest you do so. For this what you need to do is head to Steam Library and right-click on WWE 2K24. Select Properties and switch to the Controller section. Now, select Disable Steam Input from the drop-down menu and close the settings.
Switch to another controller –
You can also try connecting another controller while running the game and see if that works. Basically, if the other one works, then it’s likely that your previous controller has an issue. However, if even the newly connected don’t help, then the issue lies with the game itself.
Repair the game files –
When a game’s files get corrupted or go missing, a myriad of issues can arise as a result of it. In such cases, the only fix is to repair the game files. To do that, open Steam, navigate to the Steam Library, and right-click on WWE 2K24. Select Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files.
Uninstall controller apps –
If you happen to have controller apps like vJOY (Virtual Joystick) and such installed, we suggest that you uninstall them. If it doesn’t help, try another workaround.
Connect the controller before starting the game –
We also recommend that you try connecting the controller before starting WWE 2K24. This strange workaround was what some players used in previous WWE 2K titles, so give it a try. And if it doesn’t work, check out the next workaround.
Use K&M –
If you are still facing the same issue then switch to using a keyboard and mouse until this issue is officially resolved. That’s the only thing that might help you in circumventing this issue if the previous workarounds weren’t of help.
