The yearly WWE 2K release continues on with the official launch of WWE 2K24 on March 8, 2024. Fans of the series seem to be impressed by what Visual Concepts has done with this new entry into the series. From returning match types to an incredible roster of over 200 WWE Superstars and Legends, there’s a lot of fun to be had with WWE 2K24. Unfortunately, a lot of players have complained about an issue where Steam’s family sharing feature doesn’t seem to work at all with the game.
Well, the issue here is that for whatever reason, players are unable to use Steam’s family share. The game supports Family Sharing and as such, this is a particularly major issue. So, is there any fix for it? Let’s go ahead and find out.
WWE 2K24 Family sharing not working: How to fix it
You can try the following workarounds to deal with this issue. Try these and see if any of them are of help to you.
Update –
The very first thing that we suggest you do is update both WWE 2K24 and Steam. And while you are at it, we also recommend updating Windows if there’s an update available in the first place. Now, if the updating method doesn’t work, try another workaround.
Re-authorize PC access –
Players can also try re-authorizing PC access and see if that helps them in dealing with this issue. Basically, what you need to do is:
- Open Steam and navigate to Settings.
- Switch to the Family section and checkmark the Authorize Library Sharing on this computer option. If it’s already checkmarked, uncheck and recheck it.
- Now, click on the Manage other computers option. In the next window, start revoking access for all PCs.
- Next, run the game on the shared Steam library and re-authorize access when prompted.
Allow WWE 2K24 through your firewall –
It could also be that your firewall has blocked WWE 2K24 from accessing your network, resulting in this issue. Whether that’s the case or not, we suggest that you allow WWE 2K24 through your firewall. And you can do that, by following the instructions below:
- Open Windows Settings and navigate to Windows Security > Firewall & Network Protection.
- Scroll down and click on Allow an app through Firewall.
- Next, click on the Change settings button on the top-right. If there’s a UAC pop-up, select Yes.
- Start looking for WWE 2K24 in the list below. If it isn’t there, click on the Allow another app.. option and add the game.
- Now, checkmark both Public and Private options next to WWE 2K24. End the process by clicking on OK.
Run SFC scan –
You can also try running an SFC scan in order to resolve this issue. All you need to do is open Command Prompt as an admin, type in SFC /scannow, and press the Enter key. After the scan is complete, close the command prompt and start the game to see if the issue persists.
Reset Winsock –
A corrupt Winsock catalog can also lead to this issue. Resetting it is the only way to deal with that. To do that, open Command Prompt as an admin and type in netsh winsock reset. After the reset is done, don’t forget to restart your PC.
Sign out of Steam –
For some players, what helped them deal with this issue was to sign out of Steam and then sign back in. So, try this and see if the issue continues. You also need to open Steam with Admin Privileges for this to work.
Check the number of PCs with access to the Shared Library –
For the uninitiated, Steam Family Sharing allows you to only authorize up to 1 device at a given time, and only up to 5 accounts can use your game library on any of the authorized computers. So, make sure that the numbers don’t exceed this. If you want to give authorization to a new device, then you will have to revoke access to one of your devices.
And that’s all the workarounds we have for this issue. You can also take a look at this guide if you happen to be facing the slow motion issue in the game. Lastly, for more such content, keep following DigiStatement. Also read: WWE 2K24 Intergender/Male vs Female Mode: Is it available
