This game was the sequel to the 2014 released, Wolfenstein: The New Order. The release of New Order was a key moment in the series. Bethesda Software’s Senior VP of Global Marketing and Communications, Pete Hines, announced at E3 2018 that Wolfenstein 3 is surely on the cards. However, following this announcement, we’ve had no further details on the game. It’s literally impossible to predict how far along the development of Wolfenstein 3 is at this point. What we know right now is that MachineGames is also working on an untitled Indiana Jones project for Bethesda. In case they’re prioritizing the latter, that will push the release date of Wolfenstein 3 further down the line. The fans will have to wait and see how everything pans out before they can get their hopes too high.
What can we expect from Wolfenstein 3?
Now, in terms of content, speculation is that the game will finally feature the widely popular Sun Gun. Fans also expect Mecha Hitler to finally make his appearance in the game. Especially since an early cutscene in Wolfenstein: Youngblood shows players the assassination of Hitler by B.J. Blazkowicz, it’s possible that the new boss in Wolfenstein 3 is going to be Mecha Hitler. However, this is speculation considering the events of Wolfenstein 3 will continue after Youngblood. If the game starts from the ending of Wolfenstein 2 instead, then it’s hard to predict what content it will feature. Maybe you will play as Blazkowicz and finally assassinate Hitler in Wolfenstein 3, leading to the cutscene of Youngblood? It is indeed possible.
