Every once in a while, there comes a game that changes an entire genre. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild did it with open-world games, and Stardew Valley did it with farming sims. Developed by Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, the game was fully released on February 26, 2016, and ever since then, it has enjoyed a huge and loyal following. Even so many years after its release, the game still gets an average player count of about 20–30k players, and that’s on Steam alone. Suffice it to say that Stardew Valley is still the best farm-sim game out there. And with new players starting their farming lives, it can be hard for some of them to learn every bit of stuff about the game all at once. That’s where guides such as these come into play. This one in particular will focus on learning what after-dark means in the game.
For those new to Farm Sim titles, there are going to be a lot of things that might confuse you. While the genre is quite easier to get into compared to other games, it still has some unique things of its own that you will need to learn and understand. And Stardew Valley, being such an old title with multiple hours’ worth of content, can be quite a challenge. However, guides such as this will help you learn whatever there’s to learn about. So, without much further ado, continue reading to know what after-dark means in Stardew Valley.
What does after dark mean in Stardew Valley?
As the name suggests, after dark just means nighttime in Stardew Valley. Specifically, between 7 and 10 p.m. During your playthrough of the game, you will come across a lot of quests with “after dark” in the description. Like the Penny Quest, where she sends you a letter to meet her after dark or Sam’s 10 heart trigger event.
Now, when the quest says after dark, it isn’t usually specified which hour of the nighttime or sometimes even day. When that happens, you will either have to interact with the NPC at different hours of the night or just go look at the Villagers section of the official Stardew Valley Wiki. For endgame players, you can get the Key To The Town item from Qi’s Walnut Room for about 20 Qi Gems. This item allows access to all buildings in the town, irrespective of the time of the day. However, this item cannot function outside of Pelican Town. But why are we talking about this item in particular? Well, the thing is, you can use it to enter shops and homes in the town after they are closed during nighttime. And that can be very helpful in completing certain “after-dark” quests.
And that’s all you really need to know about after dark in Stardew Valley. Additionally, if you want to know what Purple Flowers and Starfish mean in the game, check out this guide.
