War Thunder Internal Server Error

Developed and published by Gaijin Entertainment, War Thunder is a military combat game. In fact, it’s perhaps the biggest free-to-play military MMO game, where players control and fight using different military vehicles. The game officially came out in 2013 and has grown in stature ever since. However, some War Thunder players have encountered a server error ever since the 2.27.0.29 update went live on June 15, 2023. Whenever they’re trying to access the game, it shows the following prompt: “Internal Server Error: No Answer”. If you’re facing this internal server error in War Thunder, keep reading this article till the end to find the possible fixes.

Errors and bugs are an absolute nightmare when you’re trying to play your favorite game. With the new patch update released for War Thunder, players expected the game to perform better. However, the internal server error has created a dent in the gaming experience for many. Gaijin explained that this is being caused by an incorrect response from the game server. However, there can be a few other reasons that might cause your game to run into the internal server error. For example, a poor network or a firewall blocking War Thunder can trigger this issue. In any case, how do you fix the internal server error in War Thunder? Let’s find out!

How to Fix Internal Server Error in War Thunder?

Internal Server Error in War Thunder

If you’re constantly running into the internal server error in War Thunder, try the following fixes and check if they work –

Check your internet connection

Since poor connectivity can trigger the internal server error in War Thunder, you have to make sure that your internet is working fine. You can check the strength of your network on different internet speed test websites online. If the network connection is slow, consider using a wired connection, or switching to a different network.

Check War Thunder server status

If the game servers are overloaded or temporarily down, the internal server error can occur. Thus, you have to make sure that there’s no server issue on the developers’ end. You can find updates on server status and maintenance on the official War Thunder Forum page or Twitter handle. If there’s ongoing server maintenance, then you need to wait until it’s addressed and properly fixed. However, if there’s no update on a server crash or maintenance from the developers, try the next workaround.

Verify your game files

Corrupt or missing game files can be the reason behind the internal server error in War Thunder. You will need to verify and repair the integrity of your game files to fix this.

  • Open Steam and go to your Steam Library.
  • Locate War Thunder, and then right-click on it.
  • From the drop-down menu, select Properties. Then, click on Local Files.
  • You’ll get the option to verify the integrity of game files here. Select this option, wait for the process to complete, and then launch the game. Check if the issue persists.

Disable Windows Firewall

Your Windows Firewall is an important protective measure to protect you from cyberattacks. However, this can also result in the game being unable to connect with the server. So, you can disable this program before launching the game.

  • Open the Control Panel, and scroll down to Windows Defender Firewall.
  • Click on the “Turn Windows Defender Firewall On or Off” option.
  • Turn it off for both the Private and Public Network Settings. This should fix the internal server error in War Thunder. Launch your game and check if this fix has worked.

Check for updates

As per a player report, the internal server error in War Thunder was fixed after they received a small 500MB update for the game. So, after updating, the error was fixed. Well, if you too are facing the same issue, check for the latest updates for War Thunder and update the game. After this, check if the issue persists.

Reinstall the game

If nothing works, you can try uninstalling the game and then installing it again. If any of your game files were corrupt or missing even after the Steam integrity check, then reinstalling is the only option that can fix this issue.

Well, as the issue has been addressed in Gaijin Support, we can expect a permanent fix for this soon. If there’s an update on the same, we will definitely share it with you. Until then, for all your gaming-related queries, stay tuned to DigiStatement!
