Boundless Dynamics LLC’s VTOL VR has been going strong since 2017 and has yet to lose official support. Just a few months ago, in August, the game got a major update that added a plethora of content along with the usual general improvements. Wind, which had been an experimental option for some time, officially transitioned into a full-fledged option in the mission editor with 1.7. Besides that, players also saw the addition of a new PvP multiplayer scenario. Now, all this has made players really excited for the next 1.8 patch. And as such, we’ve decided to satisfy some curiosities around the release date for this upcoming patch.
Since the release of update 1.7, there have been exactly three patches dropped by Boundless Dynamics. All these were focused on fixing whatever issues 1.7 introduced. As for 1.8, BD has already confirmed that this upcoming patch will also add a bunch of new content to the game. But when is it supposed to come out? Well, let’s find out!
VTOL VR Patch 1.8 Release Date: When is it coming out
At the time of writing, we have yet to get a solid release date for the upcoming 1.8 update for the game. We don’t even have a release window for the update. Considering previous major update releases: 1.7 in August 2023, 1.6 in March 2023, 1.5 in December 2022, and 1.4 in April 2022, the time frame could range from a couple of months to more. But, as per our speculation, Patch 1.8 for Vtol VR should probably be released during Q1 of 2024. However, since there is no confirmation of the same, consider taking this information with a pinch of salt.
The upcoming Patch 1.8 is going to be released with the new Electronic Warfare DLC aircraft that the developer is planning to introduce. So, putting out a major content update such as this can take time depending on the scope. Baha or BahamutoD, the solo developer behind VTOL VR, stated the following in the Update v1.7.0’s patch notes:
The next major update (1.8) will release along with the DLC. A lot of work is going into how sensors, datalink, communication, and battlefield information is handled in order to allow for jamming, spoofing, inaccurate information, and other electronic warfare related mischief. Stay tuned!.
To add to that, the radar system will also be reworked in the same update, as you can guess from the patch notes mentioned before. And there will be AI unit balancing also, as stated by Baha on the official Discord server. Keeping in mind all this, it’s safe to say that 1.8 is going to be one banger of an update. But as for its release date, that’s only something Baha is aware of.
Although we have shared our speculated release date window for the release of Patch 1.8 for VTOL VR, it’s at best, a shot in the dark. Since the developer hasn’t made any announcement yet, the best thing that you can do is either join the official Discord server or subreddit of the game and check for any kind of discussions and updates regarding the same.
