South Korean video game publisher and developer – Nexon, just recently announced their latest title – Vindictus: Defying Fate. Taking place in the same world as the 2010 MMORPG – Vindictus, this upcoming action RPG is slated for a PC and console release, although there’s no official launch date yet. However, before the main release, Nexon has announced a pre-alpha test for Vindictus: Defying Fate, scheduled from March 13th, 2024 18:00 to March 18th, 2024 1:00 (PDT). Suffice it to say, players are pretty excited about this and want to know everything about it. And a major question that many players are asking about is whether Vindictus: Defying Fate supports macOS and Linux platforms.
Windows continues to dominate the PC market and looks like it’s going to continue to do so. However, over the past few years, Linux has managed to at least gain some market share. macOS on the other hand remains a very niche market for PC gaming and unfortunately has not seen any major advancements in the past two decades. So much so that, currently, macOS is in the dead last place when compared to all other platforms. Despite all that, both Linux and macOS users still continue to ask questions about playability whenever a new game is released or announced. So, does Vindictus: Defying Fate supports macOS and Linux? Well, here’s all we know about that.
Vindictus Defying Fate Mac & Linux Support Details
At the time of publishing this, Vindictus: Defying Fate isn’t supported for either Mac or Linux. The upcoming pre-alpha test as stated in the FAQ is said to be only playable on Windows 11 and Windows 10 versions 22h2 and higher. Here’s what the developers said:
“Can I play the game on OS versions other than Windows 10(64bit)?
A: The pre-alpha can be played on Windows 11 and some Windows 10 versions.
Windows 10 must be updated versions of 22h2 or higher.
The game does not run on MAC/Linux.”
So, if you want to play Vindictus: Defying Fate then you will have to do it on a Windows machine. However, could macOS and Linux support be added later? Well, we don’t really know the answer to that. It’s possible that Nexon might include support for these platforms in the future but it’s also possible that they may not. A lot of this hangs on the demand for a macOS and Linux version of the game. As such, if you really want to enjoy Vindictus: Defying Fate on either of these platforms then we suggest you submit a suggestion for that. To do that, you need to:
