Stunlock Studios’ V Rising is all set to launch on May 8, 2024. Originally released as an early access on May 17, 2022, fans are pretty excited for this full release of V Rising. After all, there’s nothing quite like V Rising when it comes to open-world sandbox survival. With all this excitement around its release, many in the community also want to know whether they can enjoy it on handhelds like the Steam Deck, Lenovo Legion Go, and the Asus Rog Ally. If you are wondering the same, continue reading.
Handhelds have made a fantastic comeback, all thanks to the success of the Nintendo Switch. Not only that, we now also have a ton of PC handhelds out there, making it possible to play titles like Elden Ring, Cyberpunk 2077, Starfield, and Red Dead Redemption 2 on the go. And now V Rising fans are hoping that they will be able to do the same with V Rising too. So, without much further ado, let’s go ahead and find out all about that.
V Rising Steam Deck, Lenovo Legion Go, & Asus Rog Ally Support Details
Let’s start with the Steam Deck. At the time of publishing this, V Rising isn’t officially supported for the Steam Deck. And something like this is to be expected for a game still under early access. Now, while it might not be officially Deck Verified, Valve has categorized V Rising as Playable for the Deck. This is further supported by a number of videos available online which show V Rising running on the Steam Deck. However, some are hoping that v1.0 of V Rising will make the game much more optimized for the Deck. A player even went on to ask the developers about this and the following is what a developer stated as the reply to that question:
As for both the Lenovo Legion Go and the Asus Rog Ally, users wouldn’t have much issue running V Rising on these two handhelds. Unlike the Steam Deck, both the Ally and the Legion Go run on Windows OS, which is of immense help in avoiding compatibility issues. A problem more prevalent on the Steam Deck is that it uses Steam OS instead of Windows. The game runs just fine on the Rog Ally, as evidenced by the various player reports. And any game that runs on the Ally will run on the Legion Go too, since both use the same APU, i.e. AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme.
The main problem that handheld V Rising players are facing is controller issues. Officially, there’s no controller support for the game right now. However, that will all change with the full release of V Rising, as it’s one of the many things that will be included with Version 1.0’s release on May 8, 2024.
