V Rising Custom Difficulty Setting Not Working Bug: Is there any fix yet

It took two years of early access, but Stunlock Studios’ V Rising is finally here. Released just recently on May 8, 2024, the game is now available on PC, with a console port on the way. Even before the full version 1.0 release, the game had sold three million units as of January 2023. And while V1.0 numbers are yet to be announced, it isn’t a stretch to say that V Rising is both a critical and financial hit for Stunlock Studios. Players seem to be having a great time in the game, although there are one or two issues that many would love to get rid of. This guide, in particular, will help you fix the Custom Difficulty Setting Not Working bug in V Rising.

The problem here is that due to a bug, the game simply doesn’t apply the changes made in custom difficulty settings. This is a major issue for players wanting to enjoy a private game of V Rising. So, without much further ado, let’s go ahead and take a look at all the workarounds available for this issue.

Here are some workarounds which might prove useful in getting rid of this issue. Try not to skip, unless you’ve already used a fix before.

Change a setting in the Advanced Settings menu and then do the same in the real settings –

As suggested here, what you need to do is first head into the Advanced Settings menu and change one setting in there. Once that’s done, save the change. Now, change it to the real setting you want and apply your changes. And that should be all you need to fix this issue.

Set durability to more than 0 –

It seems like there’s a bug with the durability setting too, which is leading to the custom ruleset not being saved. What this player did to fix this issue was to set the durability slider to 0.25 instead of 0 and then save the changes. You can do the same too.

Use the normal setting save –

A player by the name of NormireX got around this issue by not saving a profile and instead using the normal setting save. Now, this particular might or might not work for you. So, give it a try and see if that works.

Delete your save files.

If you are comfortable with starting from scratch, then you can simply delete your saved files and start over. If you don’t know where the save files are located, head over to this location: Local Disk (C:) > Users > [Your Username] > AppData > LocalLow > Stunlock Studios > VRising > Saves > v1.

Delete v1, v2, and v3 files –

Players can also try deleting the v1, v2, and v3 save files in order to resolve this issue. To do that, first, you will need to navigate to where VRising’s config files are. Here’s the path for that: C/Users/[Yourusername]/AppData/LocalLow/Stunlock Studios/VRising/Settings. Now, you need to delete all the v1, v2, and v3 folders. Once that’s done, launch the game and hopefully the issue won’t be there anymore.

Well, that’s all the workarounds we have for this issue. You can also take a quick look here if you want to know how to find Greatsword in the game. And for more such interesting guides, keep following DigiStatement. Also read: V Rising Dedicated Server Not Working Issue: Is There Any Fix Yet
