The developer, @wilsonTrepang, revealed that Team17 is only focused on a single-player mode for Trepang2. Thus, the game isn’t likely to feature a multiplayer mode. However, they have also mentioned that this can be a feature in Trepang3. This indicates that a possible sequel to Trepang2 is on the cards, and fans have already started gearing up for it.
What you have to note here is that this information dates back to 2020. The full version of the game wasn’t even available at that point. After that game finally came out in June 2023, more and more players expressed the need for a multiplayer mode in Trepang2.
