Developed by Slormite Studios and published by Slormite Studios and Abiding Bridge, the v1.0 version of The Slormancer has finally made its way to the general public. During the early access days, the game made its mark with over 4000 Overwhelmingly Positive reviews on Steam. And, with the recent full release, the number is only growing. Well, as the full release is live now, there are a few hiccups that you’d be facing if you have played the game during its early access days. One of the major ones is the save transfer from the game’s experimental branch to the live branch. If you don’t transfer your save manually, you will have to start from scratch again in the game’s full version. For this, you will need to know where the game saves its progress on your PC. So, in this guide, we have shared all the details regarding the same.
The developers themselves shared that they didn’t automate the transfer of saves from the game’s experimental branch to the live branch due to which this transfer is needed. But to even start the process, you will need to know where the game actually saves your progress on your PC. Well, just like most games, it does it in the AppData folder of your system. More details are shared below.

To gain access to the save files of The Slormancer, first, open the File Explorer and then head over to the C drive. After this, open the Users folder and then the folder with your username. Inside this, find the AppData folder. If you are unable to find it, that means hidden items are not displayed. To make them visible, go to the View button, select Show, and then click on Hidden. After this, the AppData folder should appear. Now, open it and then go to the Local folder. Here, find the “The_Slormancer” folder. Inside this folder, all your saved files are located.
How to transfer saves from the experimental branch to the live branch?
If the saves are from the experimental branch, then they will have “exp_cbeta_” in their file name. The save file would be something like this: save_exp_cbeta_1. So, to transfer them to the live branch, all you have to do is rename the file as save_1. Don’t tweak the file extension, only the file name. Once this is done, launch the game via Steam, and if Steam asks you to choose between the Local Save File and the Cloud Save File, make sure to choose Local. This will overwrite the cloud saves. Now, your progress will be transferred.
Note: The new save file name should have the same number that the experimental branch save had.
- save_exp_cbeta_1 to be changed to save_1
- save_exp_cbeta_2 to be changed to save_2 and so on.
