The phrase, “Texas Smokehouse” might soon be coming up with a whole different meaning. The law enacted on 10th June by Lone Star State allows the Texas-based farmers to cultivate and grow the hemp plants for multiple purposes.
However, by doing this, the lawmakers have mistakenly decriminalized the cannabis use, which is also known by the name Marijuana. Even if the lawmakers insist that the decriminalization hasn’t happened in this case, the truth is known to all.
The House Bill 1325 by the state lawmakers was actually a response provided to the U.S. President Donald Trump’s Farm Bill which was enacted in 2018 in the month of December. According to this plan, it was up to the state lawmakers for creation of the regulatory frameworks for hemp production and the associated by products.
Jason Katims, the Defense Attorney based in Austin, mentioned that this new law has made the area the new “Wild West”. This is because no one really knows the actual boundaries to be followed with this new law.
Attorneys such as Katims have now seen cases where some of the clients have been released of all charges with this new law enacted.
