Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance is the latest title to come out from developer and publisher – Slitherine Ltd. Released on February 21, 2024, it’s an RTS game where players can play as any of the three main factions: Founders, Movement, and Legion. The 24-hour peak player count of the game at the time of publishing was 1935, and that’s a very respectable number for a title that hasn’t gotten much attention from mainstream outlets. And while players are having a great time with the game, many have complained about encountering issues with it. A major one happens to be the multiplayer not working issue and we will help you resolve that.
Issues like this one aren’t that rare. In fact, games have always faced multiplayer-related issues and, unfortunately, will continue to do so in the future. In the case of Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance, it’s mostly players unable to connect to matches or randomly getting disconnected. And major issues like this can’t be ignored. So, is there a fix for this? Well, let’s go ahead and find out.
Terminator Dark Fate Defiance multiplayer not working: How to fix it?
Since there’s no official fix for this issue, players will have to make do with the following workarounds. Try these and see if any of them are of help.
Check your internet connection –
The very first thing that we recommend players do is check their internet connection. Make sure that your internet speed is fast and if possible, switch to Ethernet instead of using Wi-Fi. You can also perform a restart or even reset your router and see if that helps.
Update –
Slitherine has released a number of new builds (patch updates) that dealt with a number of issues, including multiplayer-related ones. As such, if you haven’t updated the game, we highly suggest you do so.
Verify game files –
Players can also try verifying and repairing the game’s files to see if that helps. Sometimes issues like this one can arise when a game gets its files either missing or corrupted. In such cases, only verifying files can help you fix that. And you can do that by:
- Open Steam and click on Library.
- From your Steam Library, find Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance and right-click on it.
- Select Properties > Installed Files > Verify the integrity of game files.
Allow the game through your firewall –
Your firewall could also be a cause here. While firewalls are great, they can sometimes block internet access for an app or game for a myriad of reasons. Allowing a game through a firewall can fix that. Now, if you don’t know how to do that, use the instructions below:
- Open Windows Settings > Privacy & Security > Windows Security > Firewall & Network Protection.
- In the next window, scroll down and click on Allow an app through a firewall.
- Next, click on the Change Settings button. If there’s a UAC pop-up, select Yes.
- Find Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance in the list below. If it isn’t there, click on Allow another app and add the game.
- Now, tick both Private and Public options next to the game.
- End the process by clicking on OK.
Reset network stack –
If it’s a network configuration error, then resetting the network stack can be of huge help with that. You can do that by opening the Command Prompt with admin access and then entering each command mentioned below:
- netsh winsock reset
- netsh int ip reset
- ipconfig /release
- ipconfig /renew
- ipconfig /flushdns
Reinstall –
If you are still experiencing multiplayer-related issues, we suggest that you reinstall the game. At times, the reinstalling method can work wonders when other workarounds aren’t able to. So, reinstall Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance and find out if it works out.
Well, that’s all the workarounds we have for this issue.
