Slitherine Ltd., known for publishing titles like Starship Troopers: Terran Command, and Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector, just recently launched their latest title on February 21, 2024. Titled Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance, it’s an RTS game where you will be leading the survival of the entire mankind against Legion’s synthetic intelligent machine network. But before players can take the mantle of humanity’s savior, many want to know if the game allows modding, and supports HDR, ultrawide, super ultrawide, AMD FSR3, and DLSS.
The RTS genre continues to persist thanks to titles like Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, Age of Empires IV, and older games like Starcraft 2, Red Alert 2, and such. While a lot of RTS games have been released in the past few years, only a handful have been able to achieve great success. And a lot of fans are hoping that Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance becomes one of these successful games. Now, while that’s something fans want to see in the future, what they want to know now is whether Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance supports modding, HDR, ultrawide, super ultrawide, AMD FSR 3, and DLSS. So, we have provided all the necessary details regarding the same.
Terminator Dark Fate Defiance Mod, HDR, Ultrawide (21:9), Super Ultrawide (32:9), AMD FSR 3 & DLSS Support Details
Let’s start with mods. At the time of publishing this, there’s no official mod support for Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance. However, this isn’t going to be the case for the foreseeable future. The developers have stated that they will add mod support later down the line, after TDFD’s release. The only question that remains is how long. Unfortunately, we don’t have the answer to this question at the moment. As for HDR, that also isn’t supported currently. While there might be no native HDR support, players can try and see if Windows 11’s Auto HDR feature works with it. Or even use the autohdr_force tool as an alternative.
Now the game does support both ultrawide and super ultrawide, but there seem to be a lot of issues with it, with many players experiencing crashes and black screens in widescreen resolutions. Slitherine appears to be aware of this and is actively working on fixing this particular issue. The previous two builds – v1.01.933 and v1.01.934 were released to address a whole lot of issues, including this widescreen crash and black screen issue. Besides that, the developers also suggested a few days ago that you opt for the beta build of the game to bypass this issue. However, you don’t need to do that anymore since the open beta build is now in the main game. One thing that players with ultrawide and super ultrawide monitors should do, as recommended by the developers themselves, is to:
Go to in-game Settings > Video and then select either Full HD [192×1080] or 2K [2560×1440] resolution. Save this and then switch to Windowed Mode. Continue playing the game this way until the developers release the upcoming new build with full wide-screen functionality.
At last, we come to AMD FSR 3 and DLSS. And currently, Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance supports neither of these. We don’t know when the developers plan to add upscaling support or if they even have a plan in the first place. If the game does get upscaling, we will be sure to update our readers on it.
Well, that’s all the information we have on this. Additionally, you can also take a quick look here, if you want to know whether Myth of Empires also supports similar features.
