Developer Odinsoft’s open-world adventure survival game, Survival: Fountain of Youth, is finally coming out of early access. Just recently, on April 15, 2024, the developer made an announcement regarding SFoY’s full release on May 21. Furthermore, to reflect all the changes added in early access, Survival Fountain of Youth’s price will be increased from its current $22.99 to $27.99 come with April 19th. The full release of SFoY will also mark the launch of the game’s final chapter. And a lot of fans are intending to enjoy it on their Steam Decks. As such, it’s all the better to know the best possible Steam Deck settings for Survival: Fountain of Youth in order to get the most out of your play session.

The Steam Deck is a pretty capable device but it’s still a handheld. Players still have to do perform some tweaks if they intend to play a game at a stable frame rate. More so in the case of unsupported games, which Survival: Fountain of Youth happens to be. Don’t worry, though. This guide here will show you the best Steam Deck settings for Survival: Fountain of Youth, which will get you high fps and better performance.

Before checking out the best settings for Survival: Fountain of Youth, we highly recommend that you make sure that both the game and the SteamOS are updated to the latest version. Additionally, you can also check out CryoUtilities, which can help you gain a slight boost in performance for your Steam Deck.

After you are done with that, launch the game, select Settings, and switch to the Graphics section. Now, set your settings as mentioned below:

Graphics

  • Resolution: 1280×800
  • Fullscreen: Yes
  • FPS Rate: 60
  • Preset: Low
  • Anti–Aliasing: Off
  • Texture Resolution: Medium
  • Anisotropic Filtering: No
  • Shadow Quality: Low
  • Shadow Distance: 500
  • Volumetric Lighting: Medium
  • HBAO: Medium

Once you are done with changing your settings, press the A button on the Steam Deck to confirm your changes. The above settings will allow you to enjoy Survival: Fountain of Youth at 20+ fps but you still might encounter some fps dips at times. And yes, we stated 20+ fps because SFoY doesn’t run that well on the Steam Deck. Additionally, players can also try the following settings, which limit the FPS Rate to 30 instead of 60.

  • Resolution: 1280×720
  • Fullscreen: Yes
  • FPS Rate: 30
  • Preset: Low
  • Anti-Aliasing: Off
  • Texture Resolution: Low
  • Anisotropic Filtering: No
  • Shadow Quality: Low
  • Shadow Distance: 500
  • Volumetric Lighting: Low
  • HBAO: Low

Unlike the previous settings, which made the game run at 800p, this one will change it to 720p. As you can see, everything’s been turned to low and FPS Rate to 30. This build will aid you in enjoying SFoY for a longer time, with somewhat stable fps. Although, you will have to compromise a lot when it comes to graphics.

Well, these are the best settings you can apply in-game to get the most out of your Deck. You can also take a quick look here to learn the best Steam Deck settings for System Shock remake.
