Capcom’s latest Street Fighter 6 kicks its way onto the PlayStation 4|5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms on June 1, 2023. There’s a lot of hype around the game since it’s the seventh mainline installment in the Street Fighter series. Capcom already did a closed beta and an open beta for the game, and now it’s finally released to be purchased and played. However, like all games, there are some minor and major issues with it. Some players have been unable to get their controllers to work in the game on PC.
Certain games are better suited for a particular type of input method. FPS games are well suited for a keyboard and mouse input combo, while platformers work well with controllers. Fighting games are especially favorable towards controllers as the preferred method of input since using combos on them is easier and, frankly, miles better than the traditional keyboard and mouse controls. Well, that’s why players on PC generally prefer to use controllers to play Street Fighter games. However, if any problem arises with the controller, then you can see where this is headed. So, is there any fix for the controller not working issue in Street Fighter 6? Let’s find out!!
Street Fighter (SF) 6 Controller Not Working Issue: Is there any fix yet
Before we start, we would like to let you know that Street Fighter 6 has only partial controller support on PC, as stated on the Steam store page of the game. As such, players will be required to use a keyboard at times. Furthermore, we can’t really give you a clear-cut release date for full controller support, as Capcom hasn’t announced anything related to it. With that out of the way, here are some generic workarounds to fix the controller not working issue.
Restart your PC –
Sometimes, restarting is enough to fix problems like these. Although not totally guaranteed, you should still try this method and see if it fixes the problem.
Reconnect the controller –
If you are using a wired controller, we recommend that you unplug it from your device and then plug it back in again. A loose USB connection could be one of the many causes, so executing this method can resolve the issue.
Update Controller –
Controllers these days also receive system updates, like consoles and games. If you have a PS or Xbox controller, chances are that it has an update pending. As such, make sure to update it via the Device Manager on your PC.
Power cycle your controller –
You can also try doing a full power cycle in order to resolve this issue. All you need to do is unplug the controller (if using a wired one), turn it off, wait for a minute or two, and then power it back on. Now, connect the controller to see if the issue still persists.
Update game –
Sometimes, the issue may not be with the controller but rather with the game itself. Plus, with Street Fighter 6 being such a fresh release, patches/updates will be released consistently by Capcom. And so, we recommend that you keep the game updated regularly.
Disconnect other peripherals –
If you have connected a mouse and a controller to your PC, the game might not be able to recognize the controller. This will lead to the controller not working issue. So, make sure to disconnect the mouse from your PC and then connect the controller.
We do hope that this guide has helped you fix the controller not working issue in Street Fighter 6 on PC. If you are still encountering this issue, you can contact Capcom support to get additional assistance. Well, for more guides and info on Street Fight 6, don’t forget to follow DigiStatement.
