November 2023 saw the launch of Valve’s Steam Deck OLED, something that Steam Deck users weren’t expecting at all. Nonetheless, the release of an OLED variant of the Steam Deck proved successful for Valve and has led to many new and old users getting one for themselves. Since it’s a PC handheld, a lot of Steam Deck users have also gone on to install Windows on their Deck to play games that can’t be played on the native SteamOS. However, it seems like for Windows 11, the Wi-Fi driver isn’t provided by Valve.
The Wi-Fi driver is one of the most important drivers if you even want to download and play other games on your Deck. Valve has already made available a lot of crucial drivers for the Steam Deck LCD version, but the Steam Deck OLED doesn’t have those. So, is there a way to download Wi-Fi drivers for Windows 11? Well, continue reading to find out!
Steam Deck OLED Windows 11 Wifi Driver: How to get & download it?
At the time of publishing this, Valve is yet to release Windows Wi-Fi drivers for the Steam Deck OLED. This isn’t the same case with the Steam Deck LCD version, but that’s more due to it being the base version and being released first. Currently, the only drivers available for the Steam Deck OLED are APU and SD Card reader drivers. When it comes to the Wi-Fi driver, Valve currently states the following:
“Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Audio drivers for Windows on Steam Deck OLED are currently being worked on, and will be available soon.”
So, all you need to do is wait. Additionally, as suggested by this user here, players can also get this particular wifi module from Lenovo. It seems to work just fine, so if you want, you can try this too. But if you would rather wait for Valve to release Windows 11 Wi-Fi drivers, you can just install Windows 10 on your Steam Deck OLED.
Now, if you are having some issues with Wi-Fi drivers on your Deck, we recommend following this Wi-Fi fix. Essentially, what you need to do is open a browser of your choice on your Deck and then:
- Head to this GitHub page and then click on the Code button. Select the Download ZIP option and wait for the download to finish.
- Next, head to your Downloads folder, and then extract the recently downloaded ZIP file.
- The extracted file will contain four files: Certs, Driver, README.md, and Setup.
- Right-click on Setup and select Run as administrator.
- Now, let the setup do its thing and wait until the installation is complete.
- Once the installation is done, open Device Manager and check if you see RTK Killer Wi-Fi under Network adapters.
And that’s all the information we have on this topic right now. Additionally, if you want to know more about the Steam Deck OLED and LCD’s charger wattage details, take a look at this.
