Developer Guidelight Games just recently released their roguelike deckbuilder title under Steam’s early access program on February 12, 2024. Titled SpellRogue, early reception to the game has been mostly positive, with players particularly liking the dice rolling and card combinations. However, due to just how fresh the game is, there’s a lot about it that players don’t know about but certainly want to. And currently, there’s a lot of curiosity around the game’s mod, HDR, Ultrawide, AMD FSR 3, and DLSS support.
The all-time peak for the game on Steam reached 1,058 players, and for a niche title like this, that’s quite a respectable number. New players are certainly flocking in to try out the game, although it’s all happening slowly but steadily. The game is fun, but like any other new title, players want to know everything there’s to know about it. So, let’s go ahead and find out whether SpellRogue supports modding, HDR, Ultrawide (21:9), AMD FSR 3, and DLSS.
SpellRogue Mod, HDR, Ultrawide (21:9), AMD FSR 3, & DLSS Support Details
At the time of its release, SpellRogue didn’t have ultrawide support, which certainly turned out to be a bummer for many players. However, with Hotfix #1 – 0.9.0b40, developer Guidelight Games finally added ultrawide support along with a button to reset progress and the usual bug fixes. However, you might face some minor issues with ultrawide, as stated by the developers in the patch notes: “Note that some minor graphical issues may appear in combat with a couple of enemies being too tall when playing in widescreen. We are looking into this issue, but it should pose no gameplay issue for now.” So, if you are ok with experiencing these graphical annoyances, then go ahead and enjoy SpelRogue ultrawide.
Now, when it comes to modding, the developers have yet to add support for that. Both the Steam Discussion and Discord are filled with players asking about mod support, but Guidelight Games has yet to reply to any questions related to mod support. HDR support also suffers from the same fate, as there’s no in-game support for it right now.
SpellRogue also doesn’t have AMD FSR 3 or DLSS support, so players will have to enjoy the game as it is. We don’t really know when the developers plan to introduce FSR 3 and DLSS support, or if they even want to do so in the first place. Only a handful of games have FSR 3 support right now, and when taking a look at the list of games confirmed to include FSR 3, you will find that there’s no mention of SpellRogue. DLSS, on the other hand, could be added later, but at the end of the day, the decision lies with the developers.
And that’s all the information we have on this right now.
