Sons of the Forest has been catering to a consistent player base along with some amazing updates ever since it started its early access on February 23, 2023. Developed by Endnight Games and published by Newnight, the game’s development is going smoothly from the looks of it. Well, the game received its latest update (Patch 07) on June 23, which has got many veterans and newcomers pretty excited. Now, one of the many additions included in this update is the introduction of a new Rifle. But how do you get it?
You can’t call a game survival sim without giving the players weapons to fight enemies in it. At least, that’s how most modern survival sims are. And Sons of the Forest is probably one of the most popular games in that particular genre right now. That being said, the game offers players tons of items to find and get hold of. With new updates released consistently, it can be difficult to track where to find which item. Sons of the Forest New Rifle (Patch 07): How to Get & Find
Sons of the Forest’s Patch 07 introduced lots of brand new content to the game, including the subject of this article, Rifle. It’s a new ranged weapon that will be of great help to you, especially during the new end boss fight.
To get the Rifle, you will need a Rebreather. Because of the location where the rifle is found, it’s basically necessary for you to have the rebreather in your inventory. Now that you have the item, you will need to trek towards a specific cave in the game: Lake Cave/Cultist Cave. This is the same cave where the Golden Armor and Night Vision Goggles are found.
After you enter the cave, stick to the right-hand side and keep walking. Continue until you find a section of water. This is where that Rebreather comes into play. Equip it and start swimming under the water. Stick to the right-hand side this time too. After a while, you will need to resurface and start walking again. Keep sticking to the right-hand side until you notice a lit-up area. There, beside a skull lamp, you will find the body of a dead soldier. He will be holding a rifle and some ammo. Take it and equip your new weapon. This new weapon is a bolt-action rifle with a tactical red-dot scope. The ADS is good on it, making it ideal for most tough encounters, especially the big battle at the end.
One more thing you should know is that the Cultist Cave/Lake Cave is particularly difficult to traverse. It’s filled with mutants, and as such, we recommend that you go prepared (probably equipped with a shotgun). Furthermore, a flashlight would be of great use since the cave has no source of light in most areas.
