Sonic Racing Crossworlds improves upon the kart racing feature from the previous series of Sonic. Players have several options for customizing vehicles, choosing tracks, game modes, characters, gadgets, etc. More downloadable content will be available in the future. However, the community of modders has taken upon themselves the task of providing many new features and elements before the game’s release. Therefore, in this article, we have shared methods for installing and using mods, allowing you to enjoy the features you have seen all over social media.
Sonic Racing CrossWorlds: How to use and install mods?
All the mods can currently be used on PC only. Since the game is not fully released, it’s harmless to mod it at this point. However, the developers may put some restrictions in place later to prevent players from using unfair means to win. There are two ways to mod the game, and you will have to check the specific requirements of each mod before applying either method.
- After downloading the game, open the library in Steam. Find the game and right-click on it, then select manage.
- Choose to browse local files, then follow the path steamapps\common\SonicRacingCrossWorldsONT\UNION\Content\Paks.
- Create a new folder there and name it ‘Mods’, then place the mod files inside it. Run the game normally to see its effects.
2nd method
Some mods require UE4SS to work. The steps for installing and using the same are given below:
- Download the UE4SS experimental version and extract the file.
- Follow the path: steamapps\common\SonicRacingCrossWorldsONT\UNION\Binaries\Win64. Place the contents of the extracted file here.
- Open ‘UE4SS-settings.ini’ with any text editor like Notepad and locate the following lines to make necessary changes:
[EngineVersionOverride] MajorVersion = 5 MinorVersion = 4
[Debug]
ConsoleEnabled = 1
- Then download your preferred mod and place it in the ue4ss\Mods folder within the Binaries\Win64 directory (e.g., SonicRacingCrossWorldsONT\UNION\Binaries\Win64\ue4ss\Mods
- Thereafter, launch the game and press the ~ key, then type ‘open pl_menu’ and ‘open pl_race’.
Both methods work well for modding the playtest version of Sonic Racing CrossWorlds. There might be other mods in the future and changes to the method of modding. We will update the same on our site, so make sure to check Digistatement regularly. If you need a list of mods, check this article on our site.
