Highwire Games’ Six Days in Fallujah is currently under Steam’s early access program, having been released on June 22, 2023. The developers have stated that they plan to keep SDIF under early access for “little more than 12 months”. A console port has already been confirmed, but the release window for that is sometime in 2024. Although the game has been quite controversial due to it taking inspiration from the real Second Battle of Fallujah, it nevertheless has a decent player base. While the game is certainly fun, some players in the community are now asking if the developers have any plans for a Team Deathmatch mode. If you are wondering the same, consider reading until the end.
If you already didn’t know, Team Deathmatch is a mode where a team dukes it out with an enemy team on a random map. These matches are quick, taking only about 10-15 minutes. CoD, Battlefield, and Counter-Strike massively popularized this mode, and it is due to this that you see TDM in most FPS games. So, is there a release date for a Team Deathmatch mode in Six Days in Fallujah? Let’s find out!
Six Days in Fallujah Team Deathmatch mode (TDM) Release Date: Is it coming
This might come as a bummer, but at the time of writing this article, Six Days in Fallujah doesn’t have any official release date for a Team Deathmatch Mode (TDM). And to add to that, the developers of the game have also not officially stated any desire or made any announcements regarding the possibilities of including TDM.
If you look at the game’s roadmap here, you will realize that it doesn’t have any mentions related to Team Deathmatch. Most of the content goals are related to improving the in-game AI and adding more co-op missions. Even in the official Steam Early Access FAQ section of the game, the developers have given more emphasis to missions, operator mode, player roles, and such.
But why no TDM?
The answer to that question lies in the game’s genre. Six Days in Fallujah is a co-op shooter, where players take on missions with a team and go against AI enemies. That is the main selling point behind the game and how it is marketed to players. In fact, if you read the game’s description, you will see just how clear the message is –
“Six Days in Fallujah begins Early Access with a uniquely tactical all-human 4-player fireteam experience in which coordination and proficiency are essential. Stay tight with your team and move carefully, because these AI enemies use the same tactics against you that made the Second Battle of Fallujah among the bloodiest in half a century.”
At no point in that description did the developers mention or hint at PvP-related modes. And suffice it to say, it will remain like that at least until the full release of the game. So, if you are waiting for an eventual TDM release, we suggest you devote your time to another game. And, due to the fact that Six Days in Fallujah is dedicated to depicting real-life events, a TDM mode in such a game isn’t quite a good fit. However, if the developers share any future plans regarding the release of a TDM mode, we will update this article accordingly. So, for more content like this, don’t forget to follow DigiStatement.
