For example, in this guide, we’re going to discuss the stuttering issues in Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance on PC. If you’re facing this problem as well, keep reading for workarounds to fix the issue.
Atlus’ Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance is a popular title. This is why, when players started facing the stuttering issue in the game, it was extremely frustrating for them. As Steam user Michel explained, the game has the pitfalls of a poor Unreal Engine 4 port. Since the game runs on UE4, the stuttering is usually a shader compilation issue. So, if you’re facing stuttering in Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance, this is just the guide you need!
Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance Stuttering Issues: How to Fix?
If you take a look at the game’s Steam Discussion forum about the stuttering issues, you’ll find out that the issue is mostly being encountered by players running the game using AMD GPUs. Unfortunately, there isn’t any official fix available for the issue yet. However, you can try and use the workarounds mentioned below to see if they work for you!
Restart Your PC
If you’re facing stuttering issues in SMT-V Vengeance, then start with the basic workaround. Simply turn your PC off, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on. Then run the game and see if the issue persists.
Disable VSync from the Game Settings
Disabling VSync has solved the problem for a few players, so you can try that and see if the issue persists. In the Graphics Settings menu of the game, set the value of Vertical Sync to none. Then, run the game and see if the issue persists.
Limit in-game FPS
If the issue continues, then you’ll have to cap the in-game FPS from the in-game Graphics Settings. First, limit it to 120 and see if the stuttering goes away. If it doesn’t, then set it to 60 FPS and check if that works for you. If it doesn’t, then adjust the following graphics settings:
- Set the resolution to 2160p or lower
- Motion Blur: On
- Ambient Occlusion: On
- Graphics Quality: High
Disable Fullscreen Optimizations
- Open the Steam client and go to Library.
- Locate Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance and right-click on the game.
- Click on Properties and then go to Local Files. Then click on Browse to find the local files.
- Locate the SMT5V.exe file, and then right-click on it.
- Go to Properties and then go to Compatibility.
- Now, checkmark the option, “Disable Fullscreen Optimizations“.
- Click on Apply, then OK.
- Run the game and see if the issue persists.
Run the Game with DirectX11
- Open Steam and go to your library.
- Locate Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance and right-click on it.
- Go to Properties and then click on Set Launch Options.
- In the textbox, type “-dx11” (without the quotes).
- Click on OK and then Close.
- Run the game and see if the issue persists.
Use Borderless Windowed Mode
- You can also run the game in borderless windowed mode to try and fix the stuttering.
- For this, open the game’s launch options as shown in the previous workaround. Then, in the textbox, type “-popupwindow“.
- Click on OK and then click on Close.
- Alternatively, try this prompt to run the game in borderless windowed mode: -windowed -noborder.
- If that doesn’t work, you can access the game’s settings menu and find the Display Mode option. Here, switch it to Windowed.
