Satisfactory: How to change ammo type or switch ammo?

Who would’ve thought that factory-sim would be such a popular genre in these times? Developed and published by Swedish video game developer Coffee Stain Studios, Satisfactory is a factory-sim game that has already been in early access for quite some time. Released in March 2019, the game was first made available in the Epic Games Store and then eventually came to Steam via its Early Access program. Today, along with Factorio, it is one of the top five factory-sim games in the video gaming world. While Factorio is a 2D game, Satisfactory is its 3D cousin. The gameplay of Satisfactory is almost identical to Factorio, with the player character making factories, fighting alien creatures, and such. Coffee Stain Studios has been preparing for a full release of the game for some time, and according to the game’s Steam Early Access FAQ section, it is quite close to 1.0. But still, there are some major updates to come until the full release. And coming to the topic of updates and content, it’s quite a challenge for newer players to take it all in at once with a game as massive as this. And if you are reading this article, then you must be looking for a way to change ammo types or switch ammo in-game.

At first, hearing the words factory simulation and combat can be a bit jarring, as it’s unusual for these two genres to mash together. But if the astounding success of Factorio and even Satisfactory is to be presented as evidence, then you will quickly realize just how popular these games are. But in hindsight, it makes sense since just building factories can become boring very quickly. Giving the player a mental simulation in the form of combat is a good way to keep the player’s interest going. And so, Satisfactory offers combat elements, and you can even change ammo in-game. But, how? Continue reading to learn more.

In order to switch ammo or change ammo type in Satisfactory, you will need to hold the R button on your keyboard. Now you will be able to select and choose your ammo type as per your choice. Combat is an important part of the game, and having such knowledge is crucial for game progress.

Like Factorio, combat in Satisfactory is mostly against “alien” creatures. These creatures can be found all over the world, and in many cases, a large number of them nest on precious resources. One thing to note here is that these creatures never target structures made by the player character, aka, Pioneer. Rather, they will exclusively attack the Pioneer.

The hold R to change ammo type or switch ammo option wasn’t always there from the start. On the contrary, it was introduced in Update 6.0 of the game. The same update also saw the addition of new ammunition, an AI system overhaul, visual changes to creatures, and more. Anyway, we hope that this guide has helped you in knowing how to change ammo type or switch ammo in Satisfactory.
