Facepunch Studios’ multiplayer survival title, Rust, has come a long way since its early access release back in 2013. From being created as a clone of DayZ to turning into the game it’s today, it’s nothing short of amazing. Even after a decade following its early access release, the game continues to witness a healthy player base, as evidenced by the 24-hour peak player count of 99,947 players (data sourced from Steam Charts). That’s the kind of consistency you rarely see in a game this old. It’s all been possible thanks to Facepunch’s continued support. And a lot of new players want to know if this continued support has also translated to Rust having native mod support, HDR, ultrawide, super ultrawide, AMD FSR 3, and DLSS support.
The latest major update for Rust is called Bags to Riches, which added stuff like backpacks, metal detectors, and regular gameplay improvements. While all of this is certainly great, a lot of new players have been looking forward to playing the game with mods and other previously mentioned features. However, many don’t know if the game supports such features or not. Don’t worry, though. By the end of this guide, you will know everything when it comes to mod, HDR, ultrawide, super ultrawide, AMD FSR3, and DLSS support details of the game. So, let’s go ahead and find out all about that.
Rust game Mod, HDR, Ultrawide (21:9), Super Ultrawide (32:9), AMD FSR 3 & DLSS Support Details
Let’s start with mod support. Yes, Rust does indeed support mods, but all of them happen to be server-side. If Rust were a single-player game or had an offline mode, then client-side mods would have been possible. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. But the mods that are available right now are quite great and we highly recommend checking them all out. As for HDR, there’s also no support for that currently. However, players can try using either Windows 11’s Auto HDR or the autohdr_force tool and see if any of those work.
While there might be no native HDR support right now, you can definitely enjoy Rust in both ultrawide and super ultrawide. At least, you wouldn’t need to use any kind of third-party software for this.
Lastly, there’s the availability details for AMD FSR 3 and DLSS support. Well, Rust doesn’t support AMD FSR 3 but it does have DLSS. In fact, there’s no FSR support at all in the game. A lot of AMD users have been asking Facepunch to introduce FSR into the game; it’s yet to be added. However, if the game does get FSR support in the future, we will be sure to update you all about it.
Well, that’s all the information we have on this.
