Roblox Settings "An unknown error occurred"

Roblox Corporation’s Roblox is one of the largest online gaming and game development platforms in the world. With millions of users on board, this is, perhaps, the most popular online gaming community out there. With multiple ready-to-play games and even game creation options, there’s no doubt that Roblox continues to draw the attention of more and more users every day. However, despite its popularity, Roblox users are no strangers to the different technical issues that plague the platform. One such issue is the “unknown error” that players are facing when they’re trying to alter Roblox settings. If you’re facing this “An unknown error occurred” issue in Roblox while changing settings as well, consider reading this guide, as we have shared different workarounds that can help you fix this issue for good.

What exactly causes the unknown error on the platform is not yet clear, as of now. In fact, this is one of the most common issues in Roblox. Players face this error not just in Roblox settings, but also while logging in or unlocking their PIN. Understandably, this issue has made many quite restless, and the search for workarounds still continues. So, without further ado, let’s find out how to fix the “An unknown error occurred” issue in Roblox settings.

Roblox Settings “An unknown error occurred”: How to Fix?

Roblox Settings "An unknown error occurred"

The unknown error that players are facing in Roblox settings is a peculiar one. This specifically occurs when players try to disable parental controls on their Roblox account. So, how to fix it?

If you’re searching for official fixes that can fix this error in Roblox, we have some bad news for you. The developers haven’t announced any official updates on this issue, which is why there aren’t any official fixes for the problem yet. However, you can indeed try a few workarounds that have helped other users fix the issue in Roblox.

Restart Roblox, Restart Your PC

The first thing that we want you to try is restarting the Roblox client on your PC. Typically, a fresh restart can fix such errors. If that didn’t work, try restarting your PC completely. This is yet another simple and quick way to fix technical issues. Check if the error persists.

Try Disabling Parental Control from Your Smartphone

If you’re facing this issue on your PC and you know your PIN, then sign in to your Roblox account on your smartphone. Then, try and disable Parental Control from there.

Delete the Roblox Cache

  • Press the Windows + R keys together to open the Run Command Box.
  • Type %localappdata% and hit enter. Click on OK.
  • From the list, scroll down and locate the Roblox folder. You can also type Roblox in the search bar to locate the folder.
  • Right-click on the folder and click on Delete.
  • Once the folder is erased, restart your PC. After this, launch Roblox and then check if the issue persists.

Delete Roblox Player

  • In your Windows search box, type Settings, and open the first option.
  • Go to Apps from the left pane.
  • Open Installed Apps.
  • In the text bar that says “Search apps“, type Roblox.
  • From the options, locate Roblox Player.
  • Click on the three dots corresponding to Roblox Player. From the drop-down menu, click on Uninstall.

Run the Roblox Application Instead of using Web Browser

On the Roblox Developers Forum, a user named Naeeko shared a possible workaround for the error. Apparently, this error occurs because Roblox tries to push the application over your web browser. To fix this, close your web browser, and run the Roblox client on your system to input the PIN. This should fix the problem for you.

Disable Ad Blockers

Reddit user StressedCatInABox shared on the forum that disabling ad blockers can help fix the problem. If you’re using a browser to access the Roblox settings, then first disable any ad block extensions, and then try changing settings.

Contact Roblox Support

If the issue persists, then you need to contact Roblox Support. They can help you unlock and remove your PIN and generate a new PIN for you. Then, you can visit Roblox settings, try to use the new PIN, and see if it works for you.

Reinstall Roblox

If nothing has worked for you so far, uninstall Roblox from your device. Then, from the official website, download the latest version of Roblox. Run it and see if you’re still getting the error.

Well, so that’s all that you can try if you’re facing the “An unknown error occurred” issue in Roblox settings. Hopefully, our guide was helpful for you. If you found it insightful, keep visiting DigiStatement for more such gaming content and information!
