Roblox original OOF sound: How to use it?

The OOF sound was originally the default death sound used in Roblox games until the death sound replaced it. This happened due to a licensing issue with the creator that led to the removal of the sound. It briefly returned as a paid sound effect in the Avatar shop. Meanwhile, the death sound that replaced it faced negative reviews and criticisms in the community. The developers then decided to bring back the OOF sound, and as of now, it has been made the default death sound yet again. The sound plays when your character dies in-game, especially the OOF sound effect adds more to a comical situation. That is the reason for its fame, as it mixes the element of surprise with humor and amusement.

It might be noted that the update has been rolled out for PC and console, while mobiles will be receiving the updates in the upcoming days. However, the release for PlayStation has been delayed from the developers’ end, but we will keep you posted in case of any development. You can check out the full post regarding this from the developer here.

Roblox original OOF sound: How to use it?

To start hearing the OOF sound, you simply need to update your Roblox client and Roblox Studio. Also, the old sound AssetID and Store listing will still be available in the Creator store. Now, there is no need to add any code separately to the character sounds for this to work, as it will be present by default whenever an avatar is added. However, if you want to modify the OOF sound to some other effect, you can follow these steps:

  • Open Roblox studios and choose to playtest your game, then locate players under the explorer tab. Navigate to RbxCharacterSounds after clicking on your desired character name.
  • Copy the script and navigate to StarterPlayer → StarterPlayerScripts. Paste the copied script here and look for the tables SOUND_DATA and AUDIO_PLAYER DATA within the script.
  • Here, each sound for different actions or conditions will have a separate entry of SoundId and AssetId. You can replace them with the desired sound assets for the change to take place.

That will be all from our side. We hope your doubts are cleared regarding the use of the OOF effect. Since it’s added as a default sound, there will not be much trouble in using it.
