RoadCraft has finally been released on platforms including PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5. The initial reception has been quite good, with many players praising the game’s emphasis on infrastructure building rather than vehicles. However, while the game is meeting expectations, there exists a bunch of players who are unable to enjoy the experience using their controllers while running the game on their PCs. Despite the fact that the PC version of RoadCraft comes with full controller support for both Xbox and PS controllers, some have reported that the game doesn’t recognize the hardware when connected. Well, if you are reading this, it’s quite obvious that you too are facing the same issue. So, what can be done? Is there any fix yet? More details on the same are shared below.
As per recent reports, it seems that controller support implementation in RoadCraft is half-baked. While most players are able to use their controllers to play the game, some are not, and that’s pretty concerning. But is this a bug that needs fixing or just a misconfigured setting? Luckily, it’s the latter.

RoadCraft Controller Not Working Issue on PC Issue: Is there any fix yet
If your controller is not working in RoadCraft or the game isn’t recognizing it, then try these workarounds:
Disable Steam Input
For some reasons, if Steam Input is enabled for RoadCraft, the game will fail to recognize your controller. So, what you can do is disable it and then connect your controller to check whether doing so fixed the issue. How to disable Steam Input? Simple. Open Steam, go to Library, and then right-click on RoadCraft. After this, select Properties. Now, go to the Controllers tab, and then under the Override section, click on the drop-down button and select Disable Steam Input. After doing so, you can launch the game, connect your controller, and it should work in-game.
Disconnected other peripherals
If you have more than one input device connected to your PC while playing the game, we recommend that you disconnect them first. Before connecting the controller, disconnect every other input device from your PC and then only launch the game. It is possible that the game defaults to the already connected input devices as its primary input, which is why it is discarding the controller inputs. So, removing extra peripherals should force the game to recognize the controller.
Switch connection and try again
If you are using a wired connection to connect the controller to your PC to play the game, consider switching to a wireless connection and vice versa. Sometimes, switching between the connection modes can fix the issue.
For now, these are the effective workarounds you can try to fix the controller not working issue in RoadCraft while playing the game on your PC. We hope that you find this guide informative. If you did, consider visiting DigiStatement for more such interesting reads on all things gaming.
