Double Fine’s Psychonauts 2 is a platform game released by Xbox Game Studios. The release date of August 25, 2021, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S was revealed during The Game Awards 2015 ceremony. However, the macOS and Linux versions are planned for a subsequent, unknown date.
The gameplay is set in an alternate fiction world. Numerous meteors carrying Psitanium impact the local fauna and indigenous populations throughout the planet. This is how psychic powers are either gained or improved by their current ones. Because of this, a tiny study organization committed to investigating psychic phenomena grew into the Psychonauts. Once again, the second installment includes a worldwide spy agency comprised of operatives blessed with psychic powers. Through these powers, players battle remarkable evil-doers of all kinds.
In Psychonauts 2 you play Raz, a newly graduated Psychonaut with strong psychic powers. The sequel contains a new cast of supporting characters, such as the surviving Aquato family members, the Psychic Six, and Psychonaut Headquarters’ employees. It also includes the Psychonaut interns who replace Whispering Rock campers as Raz’s coworkers in Psychonauts 2. Furthermore, members of the Aquato family include Augustus’ wife and Raz’s mother Donatella. Additionally, Dion and Frazie as well as Mirtala, Queepie, and Nona are a part of the gameplay. Now that the game has been played by a multitude of gamers across the world, players have already noted down all faults; the most obvious being the HDR not working issue.
HDR not working issue
PC Players have shared their frustration about not having HDR support during their gaming experiences. While most PlayStation 5 players were upset, one player was still feeling satisfied with the looks and plays of the game.
For those wondering – Psychonauts 2 still looks and plays great on PS5, despite missing HDR and being only in 1440p.

Nonetheless, players thought it was unfair for PC and PS players and needed a solution for this issue. This is when one fan of the game shared with the Steam community that getting the game in HDR was possible by downloading a mod. Gamers who wish to enhance their gaming quality to HDR can do so by downloading the special K file. The fan also shared a quick guide (for newbies) on how to install the Special K mod. Following that, screenshots in ACES filmic mode were also provided for players to get a perspective of what they’re signing up for upon downloading the mod.
