Pokémon GO Nearby Badge

For Pokemon GO players and collectors, excitement is buzzing as Pokemon GO 2023 Adventure Week is finally here. The event commenced on July 27, 2023. If you’re a Pokemon GO player, then you probably noticed something unusual as soon as the update went live. If you’ve played the game within this period, you may have noticed the nearby badge or ribbon in the Nearby feature of the game. Of course, this ribbon wasn’t really in the game before Adventure Week commenced. This means most players have figured out that this has something to do with the event, but do you know what it is? Consider reading this article until the end to find out what this Pokemon GO nearby badge is.

If we talk about some of the most popular mobile games, we will definitely have to slide Pokemon GO into the list. This unique game came out in 2016 and features immersive AR gameplay. Besides the thrill of catching and training your own Pokemon, the game offers various events and missions to keep the experience engaging. The 2023 Adventure Week is a part of that experience. During such events, players are usually tasked with different missions that they can complete to earn rewards. Since the nearby badge was introduced in the Adventure Week update, it’s evident that the badge has something to do with these missions. But what is its significance? Let’s find out.

What is the Pokemon GO nearby badge?

Pokémon GO Nearby Badge

As we stated already, the nearby badge in the game is actually a helpful tool for the adventure week missions. But what are these missions, really? Well, as part of the Pokemon GO Adventure Week campaign, players need to capture and evolve four different fossil Pokemon. In the game, it’s called the Pokemon GO Adventure Week 2023 Collection Challenge. The list of challenges is as follows:

Dome & Helix Collection Challenge

  • As part of this challenge, players have to catch a Kabuto first. Then, they have to evolve the Kabuto into Kabutops.
  • Next, they’ll have to catch an Omanyte and evolve it into Omastar.

Root & Claw Collection Challenge

  • Players have to collect an Anorith and evolve it into Armaldo.
  • Then, you’ll have to collect Lileep and evolve it into Cradily.

Skull & Armor Collection Challenge

  • For this, players will have to catch a Shieldon and evolve it into Bastiodon.
  • Next up, players will have to catch a Cranidos and evolve it into Rampardos.

Cover & Plume Collection Challenge

  • Lastly, to complete this challenge, players will have to catch an Archen first and evolve it into Archeops.
  • Then, players will have to catch a Tirtouga and evolve it into Carracosta.

So, what is the connection between the nearby badge and these challenges? Well, as it turns out, the badge guides players in locating the aforementioned Pokemon. The nearby badge indicates the Pokemon in the pokestop that you need to collect for the collection challenge. The sole purpose of this ribbon is to remind the players of the challenge and make it easy for them to identify the Pokemon they need to acquire.

Well, now you know what the nearby badge in Pokemon Go actually does. Hopefully, this guide has provided you with all the information you need. And if you want to read more such gaming-related content, then don’t forget to stay tuned to DigiStatement.
