Valve’s Steam Deck is one of the most used handheld PCs out there. Almost every popular title is playable on Steam Deck. Even Parkitect is on the Steam Deck for the players to enjoy. However, with the game crashing frequently on this platform, players are in a bind, and they need to figure out a fix as quickly as possible. So, without further ado, let’s check out the workarounds for this Parkitect crashing on the Steam Deck issue.
Parkitect Crashing on Steam Deck: How to Fix?
So, whenever a problem like this appears, players often look for official fixes. Unfortunately, for Parkitect players, we don’t know of any official fix as of now. However, don’t worry. You can still use some of the common workarounds to try to fix this issue.
Restart the Game and the Device
Sometimes, restarting the game or your Steam Deck is the simplest and quickest way to fix such issues. First, close the game, wait a while, and then launch it back. See if it keeps crashing. If it does, then press and hold the Power button on your Steam Deck to force restart the device. If your device doesn’t turn back on automatically, then you’ll need to press and hold the Power button again until it does. Then, run the game and see if the issue persists.
Verify Integrity of Game Files
- Go to your library and highlight Parkitect.
- Press the three-dots button and then go to Properties from the drop-down menu.
- Go to Installed Files.
- Select the “Verify integrity of game files” option.
- Wait for the process to complete. Once it’s done, run Parkitect again and see if the issue persists.
Use Proton Experimental or Proton GE
- Open the game’s Properties as shared in the previous workaround.
- Go to Compatibility and select the “Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool” option.
- Select Proton GE and then run the game.
- If the issue persists, then follow the same steps once again. Except this time, choose Proton Experimental instead of Proton GE.
- Run the game and see if it works.
Use Steam Linux Runtime
This workaround is almost similar to the last one. You have to follow the exact same steps. However, instead of choosing a Proton version, use Steam Linux Runtime as the compatibility tool. Then, run the game and see if it works.
Update the Game
You need to have the latest version of the game installed for the best compatibility. Open the game’s page on Steam and find out if there are pending updates. Download and install any pending updates, if available. Then, run the game and see if it still crashes.
Update SteamOS
- Press the Steam button on your Steam Deck and go to Settings.
- Go to System. Now, select the “Check for Updates” option here to download and install pending updates.
- Then, run the game and see if it still crashes.
Reinstall the Game
If nothing has worked until now, the last thing that you can try is uninstalling and reinstalling the game. But make sure to reinstall the game in Deck’s internal storage for the best result.
