Steam’s early access program has given birth to a lot of great games and among those is Klei Entertainment’s survival simulation title, Oxygen Not Included. The game entered early access back in February 2017 and was later officially released on July 30, 2019. Reviews for the game were pretty good, with Oxygen Not Included even getting nominated for “Strategy/Simulation Game of the Year” at the 23rd Annual D.I.C.E Awards. The game continues to receive support from Klei, with the developers even announcing a paid DLC scheduled to release this year. Thanks to all this, there’s a constant stream of new players, and it just so happens that some of them want to know if they can play the game with mods, HDR, ultrawide, super ultrawide, AMD FSR 3, and DLSS.
While Klei Entertainment has released a ton of games over the past few years, Don’t Starve and Oxygen Not Included are regarded as their best works. Furthermore, back in 2022, Klei announced that they wouldn’t be doing more DLCs in the future and instead would do free updates. But in February 2024, developers announced that they were back to working on content-focused DLCs. Suffice it to say, there’s a lot of excitement around the game now and new players in particular are very curious about the game, including its features. A constant source of curiosity is whether the game supports mods, HDR, ultrawide, super ultrawide, AMD FSR 3, and DLSS. So, let’s go ahead and find out.
Oxygen Not Included Mod, HDR, Ultrawide (21:9), Super Ultrawide (32:9), AMD FSR 3 & DLSS Support Details
Players should be happy to know that Oxygen Not Included absolutely supports mods. There’s an incredible number of mods available for the game, which you can download and install. You can head to the official forum here, check out ONI mods, and even take a look at the modding guide if you want to make one yourself. HDR support, on the other hand, isn’t there in the game. So, you can either use Windows 11’s Auto-HDR feature or something like Special K.
As for ultrawide (21:9) and super ultrawide (32:9), you will have no trouble enjoying Oxygen Not Included in these aspect ratios. By the way, we recommend installing the Bigger Camera Zoom Out mod for a smoother experience. Moving on to AMD FSR 3 and DLSS, unfortunately, at the time of publishing this, Oxygen Not Included doesn’t have native support for either of these. In fact, ONI doesn’t even have any kind of upscaling options at all. And in a sense, it really doesn’t need upscaling technologies like DLSS and FSR. Oxygen Not Included is a pretty lightweight game and doesn’t need much to run perfectly. Features like DLSS and FSR are more suited for graphics-heavy 3D games, which Oxygen Not Included isn’t. All in all, ONI is perfectly fine as it is. If the developers do decide to add upscaling options, we will be sure to let our readers know all about it.
Well, that’s all the information we have on this. You can also take a quick look here if you want to know whether DayZ also supports the same features.
