There’s been quite a number of new early-access games being released recently. And Moon Studios’ latest title – No Rest for the Wicked, happens to be one of them. Released on April 18, 2024, the developers haven’t given out any approximate release window for the game’s full release. However, there’s certainly a lot planned for No Rest for the Wicked, ranging from things like the 4-player co-op to additional Crucible floors, bounties, and challenges. Reviews so far have been pretty mixed, mostly due to the myriad of technical issues plaguing the game. One of which is the controller not working issue.
An issue like this can be due to a number of factors. For some, it might be because of simple hardware damage, while for others, it could be due to the controller drivers not being updated. Whatever the cause here is, this issue needs to be looked into and resolved ASAP. So, are there any workarounds for it? Well, let’s go ahead and find out.
No Rest for the Wicked Controller not working: How to fix it
Moon Studios is indeed aware of this issue and has communicated a workaround. Besides that, you can also try other workarounds mentioned below.
Enable Steam Input –
Moon Studios has recommended checking your Steam Input setting and enabling it if it isn’t already. If you don’t know how, just follow the given steps:
- Launch Steam and navigate to Library.
- Find No Rest for the Wicked and right-click on it.
- Now, select Properties, and then switch to the Controller tab.
- Take a look at the right side of the screen and select Enable Steam Input from the drop-down menu. The controller issue should be fixed by now. However, if it isn’t, switch to another workaround.
Note: PlayStation controllers will only work when Steam Input is enabled.
Connect your controller before launching No Rest for the Wicked –
For some reason, the game doesn’t recognize a controller if you connect it to your PC after launching the game. As such, from now on, we suggest that you connect or plug in your controller before you start No Rest for the Wicked. Once you have connected your controller, launch it and you should be able to use your controller.
Repair game files –
Players can also try repairing the game files to bypass this issue. And it’s pretty simple to do that. You just need to head to your Steam Library and find No Rest for the Wicked in there. Once located, right-click on it and select Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files.
Check your controller –
Make sure that there are no major damages to your controller. Do check it for any hardware damages, as that can be a big factor in issues like this. By the way, if you happen to have an extra controller, we suggest connecting it and seeing if the issue continues. If it does, then the issue here is with the game itself and not the controller. And if it doesn’t, then the issue lies with your previous controller.
Switch to Wired:
If you are having issues in wireless mode, we suggest you simply plug in the controller and use it in wired mode. This can be of help sometimes; give it a try once.
Update –
Don’t forget to update your system along with your controller drivers. Updating can help you in resolving a ton of issues, possibly including this one. But just in case you are still facing controller issues then we suggest checking out another fix.
Reinstall –
For players who are still unable to fix this controller issue, try reinstalling the game. Just uninstall No Rest for the Wicked and then start a new download. After it’s downloaded and installed, launch the game and find out if the issue is still there or not.
Well, that’s all the workarounds we have for this issue. That said, you can also take a quick look here if you want to know how to deal with the progress loss issue in No Rest for the Wicked.
