My Hero Academia is one of the most coveted and celebrated anime-manga series out there, so it should come as no real surprise that Arcsys seems to be in the process of developing a My Hero Academia game. This is reportedly a “fighting” game, quite possibly of the tune of Mortal Kombat and Tekken. Let’s take a look at the discussion about the leaks, and analyse their credibility as well.
An Anonymous user of the infamous boards website 4chan has recently added a post talking about a new My Hero Academia game being developed. While this website does not exactly have the best track record of whistleblowers, it must be said that the detail into which this user delved does increase his credibility by a significant amount. The user also immediately strikes down two arguments that naysayers would immediately raise, why would Arcsys develop My Hero Academia over a more popular franchise, and that why would Arcsys focus on another fighting game when One’s justice 2 had a new season of DLCs announced recently. To the first question, he said, “A couple of different series were being tossed around, One Piece and JJK being two of them, but MHA was what was settled on for a few reasons. Future events in the anime being seen as a potential boost in popularity (if you read the manga you’ll know), the coming movie as well as a future animated project (You’ll pick up on what that means later)” Right off the bat, it seems as though Arcsys has some very big plans with My Hero Academia, and is looking to create a spinoff animated series as well.
Addressing why this is another fighting game, he said, “Bamco feels that One’s Justice 2, and arena fighters in general, occupy a more casual market than more traditional fighters. But they also notice that in general, more competitive fighters draw more attention with tournaments and such and want to get said attention to MHA. The game is also planned to be released closer to the end of One’s Justice’s DLC cycle anyway.” In reply to the original post, there have been a few others commenting about what they know as well. This is usually a good sign since if the info was completely fake, there are far fewer chances of this happening. Overall, this seems like an outlandish leak considering the current state of Bamco, but might well be true as the developers look to diversify their portfolio. You can find the full discussion here.
