The latest NBA game, 2K26 released on September 5, 2025, for PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo platforms. The ProPLAY engine used to develop the game renders excellent movement physics. The developers have obviously added new moves and improvised on the old ones. In this article, we are going to discuss the self alley oop, also known as the self-lob. For your information, a self-lob is when a player throws the ball to themselves and then catches it mid-air and dunks it. The self-throw is usually done by tossing the ball with a high arc so that it bounces near the basket or hits the backboard. The player then proceeds to jump and catch the ball, and then dunk it. This feature has been introduced in NBA 2k games from early on and is constant in the 2k26 title. To perform the self-lob in-game, read the article till the end.
NBA 2K26: How to self-lob?
Action | PlayStation | Xbox |
Self-lob | Press Square + Triangle while moving the left stick toward the hoop | Press X + Y while moving the left stick toward the hoop |
Performing the actions mentioned in the table on the respective console would set you up for the self-lob. However, to actually do the action, you will have to pay attention to the meter on screen. If timed correctly, the player will perform the dunk and complete the self-lob. The catch is, there is no fixed button to perform the dunk as in previous NBA titles. You’ll have to react on time and press the corresponding button when prompted with the meter on screen. Timing it close to the white marker in the meter will increase the chances of dunking. You should always look for good angles to perform the move and ensure that the path to the hoop is clear before approaching. Lobbing the ball before entering the paint or from the side logos may prove to be helpful for the move.
