Monopoly GO Unable to Connect to Google Play

Scopely Games’ Monopoly Go is a great game for mobile gamers who enjoy board games. The game was released in April 2023. And just like most Scopely titles, Monopoly Go has received great reviews and reception. On the Google Play Store, the game has more than 10 million downloads, which only proves its massive popularity. However, recently, Monopoly Go players have been facing a few bugs in the game. One such bug prevents players from linking the game to their Google Play account. The game just won’t connect to the Google Play account, and fans have been wondering how to fix it. If you’re facing this Monopoly Go unable to connect to Google Play error as well, keep reading this guide for some potential workarounds.

Typically, when such problems occur in a game, it happens because of poor network connectivity at the player’s end. However, this isn’t certain, and there can be server-related issues that can trigger such errors. Luckily for players, the developers have taken note of the issue. Scopely has listed the Monopoly GO unable to connect to Google Play issue under the list of Live Issues on their forum. They’ve also mentioned that they’re investigating it. This makes it highly likely that the game will soon receive an official fix for the issue. Until then, you can try the workarounds listed in this guide to try to fix this error on your device.

How to Fix Monopoly GO Unable to Connect to Google Play issue?

Monopoly GO Unable to Connect to Google Play

While an official fix is awaited, there isn’t any information on when it will be released. So, we have compiled a list of potential workarounds that can help troubleshoot this bug.

Check your connection

As we mentioned earlier, poor network connectivity can trigger this error in Monopoly Go. Thus, you have to make sure that your internet connection is stable enough to connect to Google Play. You can test your network speed online using different websites, regardless of whether you’re using mobile data or a Wi-Fi connection. Run the check, and if the connection is unstable, try launching the game after a while or switching to a different network.

Update the game

Not having the latest version of Monopoly Go can be the reason behind various issues, and you might not be able to connect to your Google Play account because of this. Visit the Google Play Store (for Android) and check for pending updates for Monopoly Go. If there are pending updates, simply update and install the latest version of the game and check if the issue persists.

Clear both game cache and Google Play cache

Another fix that can solve the Monopoly Go unable to connect to Google Play issue is clearing the cache data. Follow these instructions to delete the cache –

  • Go to your phone’s Settings.
  • Navigate to Apps, and locate Monopoly Go. You may have to opt for the See All Apps option if you can’t find the app otherwise.
  • Go to Storage & Cache, and here, click on the Clear Cache option.
  • After this, go back to Apps again, and now locate Google Play Games. Once found, click on it.
  • Once again, go to Storage & Cache, and click on the Clear Cache option. This would clear the cache files of both the game and Google Play itself.

Enable auto sign-in in Google Play

You also have to make sure that the automatic sign-in feature is active in your Google Play account. For this, follow these instructions:

  • Launch the Google Play Games app on your phone.
  • Click on the three dots that you can find in the top right corner of your screen.
  • Tap on the Settings option, and here, enable the Automatic Sign-in option.
  • Exit the app, launch Monopoly Go, and see if the issue is fixed.

Restart your device

If nothing has worked so far, you can try the same old restart device option. Simply switch your device off, wait a few minutes, and turn it back on. Once your device is switched on, launch the game and see if the issue persists.

So these are some of the workarounds that you can use to fix the Monopoly Go unable to connect to Google Play issue. If these workarounds don’t yield any results, you can try contacting Scopely customer support. Since the developers have taken note of the issue, rest assured that an official fix might be released soon. Until then, for more gaming-related content, keep visiting DigiStatement.
