It’s certainly an achievement to be the number-one best-selling game in the history of video games. Even juggernauts like GTA, Tetris, Pokemon, and such were unable to dethrone Minecraft. Currently developed and actively supported by Mojang Studios, it is, for all intents and purposes, a huge cash cow. Something Microsoft has an interest in keeping up. The game received its Trails and Tales update on June 7, 2023, which dropped lots of gameplay improvements along with a new biome, Camel, Sniffer, and much more. If you are reading this article, then you must be one of the many looking for a way to disable tips and hints in the game.
Tips and hints, while certainly helpful, can be particularly annoying if you are already familiar with the game. No one wants to do a tutorial again or follow tips again and again. That’s why some games even allow you to either skip them or outright disable them. So, what about Minecraft? How can you disable tips and hints in it? Let’s find out about that exactly!
Minecraft: How to disable Tips, & Hints
There are currently two ways to disable tips and hints in Minecraft. One is plain and simple, while the other takes some effort. Regardless, both of these methods are of tremendous help.
The first and simplest method is to simply follow what the tip is saying and complete the task given. This will simultaneously give you some knowledge about the game (if you are new to Minecraft) and also make the tip not appear anymore in your play session. If the tip says to chop a tree, go and do so. If it asks you to kill a creeper, go unalive one. But things don’t always go right. Sometimes the game may ask you to do something that you simply wouldn’t be equipped to do, either due to circumstances or simply due to poor luck. This is where the second method comes into play.
Be mindful that this method requires some tinkering with the game files. If you are comfortable with that, then proceed. First, get out of your Minecraft World, so that the game takes you to the main menu. From there, select Options. Now, on the next menu, select Resource Packs > Open Pack Folder. Your file explorer will open now, following which it’s suggested to close the game entirely. Next, go back to the general Minecraft directory. Search for the options.txt file in there. When you find it, open it using Notepad and search for the tutorialStep command line. You can use ctrl + f to search for that particular line. Now, you will see tutorialstep : (tips here). Replace those texts with none, so that it looks like: tutorialstep: none. Save your changes, and voila! No more tips. With that said, we certainly hope that this guide has helped you disable tips in Minecraft. For more guides like this, don’t forget to check out DigiStatement.
