If you have been playing the recent PC port of the previously PS5-exclusive title Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, it is obvious that you’ve run into a bunch of errors in-game. While the PS5 version of the game is a polished one, the same can’t be said for the PC port. Players have reported encountering tons of issues when launching the game. Some faced crashing issues, while for some, the black screen error was what pushed them away from enjoying the experience. But that’s not all. Even players who have a decent system to run the game have been struggling to get access to smooth gameplay due to the stuttering issues. So, if you too are encountering the same, this is just the guide for you. We have shared a bunch of effective workarounds for you to try and get rid of this issue for good.
If you didn’t already know, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a demanding game, and for good reasons. It supports all the latest tech to provide you with the best possible visuals and that too without compromising on the performance much. However, the implementation and optimization are where the game falls behind. Due to this, while most features can be turned on, doing so results in unfavorable output. One such setting is Ray Reconstruction. When turned on, the game can go haywire. But it is a necessary setting if you want that extra touch of realism. Anyway, here are some workarounds you can try to get rid of the stuttering issues in-game.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Stuttering Issues troubling players: Is there any fix yet?
Since the game’s launch on PC, a total of 3 updates have been released for it. 2 were hotfixes, and the most recent Patch 1 that brings a ton of fixes to the game. The developers have acknowledged player feedback and improved most in-game issues, even those related to ray reconstruction and ray tracing. So, if you enable these settings in-game after updating the game, chances are that you won’t encounter any stuttering issues. However, if you do, try these fixes:
Restart
Well, you can never go wrong with a full system restart when dealing with stuttering issues in-game. It is possible that certain applications running in the background are taking up resources, due to which this issue occurs. So, consider restarting your PC and then launching the game to check whether the stuttering continues.
DLSS Swapper
This workaround involves using the DLSS Swapper tool to download all the latest versions of DLSS, DLSS Frame Generation, and Ray Reconstruction. You can download this tool by clicking here. Once installed, make sure you have downloaded the following versions:
- DLSS: 310.2.1
- DLSS Frame Generation: 310.2
- DLSS Ray Reconstruction 310.2
Also, if you have an AMD GPU, you can also change the FSR version with the DLSS Swapper. Once you have updated these, you will notice a huge FPS boost and consistent performance in-game.
Dedicated GPU
You also need to ensure that the game is running on your system’s dedicated GPU. To do this, open the Windows Settings menu by pressing the Windows+I button and then going to the Graphics settings menu. Here, select the Browse option and then add the .exe file of the game. Once selected, click on the game’s tile and then select Options. After this, select the High Performance option.
Change in-game Settings
As mentioned already, some settings in the game contribute the most when it comes to stuttering. While the developers did release a patch fix for the same, it is possible that the problem still persists. So, it is recommended that you disable settings such as Ray Tracing and dial down the resolution to 1080p. Also, consider switching to a Low/Medium Quality Preset to check whether the same issue persists.
Power Management mode (Nvidia Control Panel)
If you have an Nvidia GPU, you can try changing the Power Management mode setting via the Nvidia Control Panel as a workaround to fix the issue. How? It’s simple. Open the Nvidia Control Panel, go to 3D Settings, and then select the Program Settings tab. Here, select Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and then access the “Specify the settings for this program” option. Scroll down until you come across the Power Management mode option. Make sure to set it to “Prefer Maximum Performance”.
Update Drivers
Now, the next step toward getting rid of the stuttering issues in-game is to perform a clean driver installation. First, uninstall the installed drivers of your GPU via the Device Manager menu and then download the latest versions via the Nvidia/AMD website. After downloading, install the drivers and then restart your PC. But that’s not all. If you notice that the in-game FPS is now worse than before, it is possible that the new drivers are the reason. So, in such a case, downgrading them is a good idea. The process is the same as before but this time, instead of downloading the latest drivers, download the ones a few months older. After this, check whether the issue persists.
Memory leak
Some players also mentioned that the game has serious memory leak issues, due to which it eventually starts stuttering after an hour of running on a system. So, while we can’t really say whether that’s indeed the case, to stay on the safer side, we recommend that you manually save the game at regular intervals and restart it after every hour to ensure smooth gameplay. Of course, this isn’t ideal but for now, it is better than nothing.
Reinstall
Finally, if none of the workarounds have been of any help, consider reinstalling the game to check whether the issue persists. It is possible that a simple reinstallation might fix the issue for good.
With that said, these are the effective workarounds that we recommend you try when encountering stuttering issues in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. We hope that you find this guide informative. And, if you did, consider visiting DigiStatement daily for more such interesting content on all things gaming.
