Lords of the Fallen (2023): How to Enable/Disable Motion Blur, Film Grain, & Chromatic Aberration

While there are still some months until Shadow of the Erdtree releases, Hexworks’ Lords of the Fallen is here to satisfy that Soulslike itch. Available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows, you will adventure through two expansive worlds in the game to defeat the once-fallen demon god, Adyr. Filled with nightmarish creatures and unrelenting enemies, LotF is not for the weak-willed. However, before you go through a journey filled with pain and frustration, it’s best to optimize and have the best setting that suits you. That’s why this guide is here to help you learn how to enable or disable Motion Blur, Film Grain, & Chromatic Aberration.

Besides being a hard-hitting Soulslike title, Lords of the Fallen is also a pretty game. Its visuals are some of the best in the genre right now, although Elden Ring still takes the cake here. Now, everybody has their own preferences when it comes to how a game should look and feel. Some people love effects like motion blur and film grain while others just don’t. So, whatever your choice may be, here’s everything you need to know about how to enable and disable such settings in the game.

What are these settings?

For the uninitiated, motion blur, film grain, and chromatic aberration are graphical settings that you can choose to either turn on or off, depending on how much you like them. Out of all these three, motion blur is the most polarizing one, as it still continues to be a hot topic even to this day. As the name suggests, this one adds visual blurs to items and objects when the player’s camera moves. It’s basically there to make the game seem more realistic or to simulate the motion blur that you yourself see. The best example of good motion blur can be experienced in racing games.

As for Film Grain, it’s there to add realism and a cinematic feel to a game’s textures and environments. Chromatic aberration, on the other hand, is another graphical setting that, when turned on, imitates a lens distortion effect on your screen. Most developers use it to produce a classical, analog feel to their games. Well, it’s also used for other things like enhancing visual quality on low-end devices. Note that these are very basic and simple explanations of these three settings. You can consult other avenues to get a more in-depth look at them if you want.

How to disable them?

Well, now that you have got some idea of what these settings are, let’s shift to enabling or disabling them. And it’s quite easy, to be honest. All you need to do is open the game’s Settings menu and then switch to the Graphics tab. Next, keep scrolling down until you come across the Render Mode option. Below it, you will see the three options: Motion Blur, Film Grain, and Chromatic Aberration. Now, you can turn these on and off depending on your preferences.

All these three options should be customized to your own choice and taste, since they rarely affect gameplay performance, except for motion blur, of course. If you aren’t a fan of reduced frame rates, turn off motion blur. As for the other two, you can just leave them on if you want some extra effects in the game.

Now that you know how to disable these settings, it is time for you to learn how to disable VSync in LotF. And as always, don’t forget to follow DigiStatement for more such content. Also, read: Lords of the Fallen (2023) Corrupted Save File Issue: Is there any fix yet
