Recently, all hope seemed to have been lost for a Little Nightmares 3 being developed, but a new statement from Bandai Namco could change that. In this article, we will take a look at all that’s happened related to Little Nightmares 3.
The initial heartbreak
Fans of the platform-puzzle horror series were left dumbfounded when Tarsier Studios came out and explicitly said that they would not make a Little Nightmares 3. Talking to IGN, Tarsier Studios CEO Andreas Johnsson said, “…it is bittersweet to announce that we are leaving the world of Little Nightmares behind us…”. The reasons behind this were pretty straightforward: Bandai Namco owned the series now, so it did not commercially appeal to Tarsier to make a third installment.
Bandai Namco to the rescue!
Just as fans of the one-of-a-kind 2D horror game were distraught with Tarsier’s announcement, Bandai Namco hinted in an interview with IGN that the series could still live on without Tarsier! Obviously, this led to bittersweet reactions from fans, since they were worried the entire series would be overhauled by Namco. Alternatively, Namco could hire a new developer for the series, one who has very different ideas for the franchise.
What could Little Nightmares 3 be about?
Despite the topsy turvy existence of a third entry to the series, there are already several rumours about what it may bring. There is a good chance it is another prequel, this time focusing completely on Six, and how she became who she is today. Another theory is that Six is The Lady HERSELF, and this could be the ultimate reveal of the third game. Either way, I know I’ll be all for it.
When is the possible release date?
Well, since the game has not even been formally confirmed yet, we cannot say too much here. Presumably, if Bandai finds a developer for the game or chooses to make it themselves, they will release an announcement stating so. All we can do for now is wait and watch!
