Komi-san finally had her nerve to come out and confess her love – not to the guy she likes but her romantic rival. So, it turns out the last few chapters made us witness some extremely awkward confrontations and decisions. Tadano, disguised as a cute girl, saved the day or rather, the play all the while escaping Komi-san’s blood-thirsty fans who could not consume the fact that he got proposed by her on stage (a lucid truth for the readers and the lady protagonists under the camouflage of an act for the silly Tadano-kun).
Anyway, the rom-com morphed into an emotional drama in the last few chapters when we saw Komi-san speak her heart out, despite the titular communication disorder she suffers from. And then, convinced Manbagi-san to not give up on her feelings for Tadano, as losing a friend would be more agonizing than losing a rival in love. Manbagi Rumiko and Komi Shouko – rivals cum friends ended up being confronted by the average guy they both adore and he, as usual, claimed their hearts with his subtle nature.
Manbagi-san decides not to give up on her feelings on one condition – Komi-san must invite Tadano to go see the school festival with her as to redeem Manbagi-san’s broken promise of the same. And, we see the utterly rarest invitation – Komi-san speaking out rather than writing the words on her notepad (What she generally does). Tadano casually agrees and the lovebirds set off on their 45 minutes of break time date.
Komi Can’t Communicate Komi-san wa Komyushou Desu Chapter 232 Spoilers
The next chapter is sure taking its sweet time to hit us, yet we can expect the drama to gradually take the comic turn once again as the last panel ended with three assassins to their cupid. Emoyama-san and her sudden flows of emo (emotions), Lilly-san and her hunt for Lillies (Yuri, i.e., girls loving girls) and the Student Council President, Isagi-san who’s hell-bent on maintaining some distance between the genders.
Not sure about how giant waves of emos striking a bystander who just watches from the shadows will hamper the date, but a Lilly-hunter and a clean-freak on a avoid illicit relationships spree are sure to improvise hurdles for Komi-san and Tadano. The fact that Tadano is cross-dressed as he walks with Komi-san will surely make it tough for the Yuri-enthusiast Lilly-san to grab her sneak peek. Though she admitted having smelt something fishy and that intrigued her even more – enhancing her chances of confronting the cute girls stealing hearts just by walking together (a cute girl and a guy disguised as a cute girl).
On the other hand, Isagi-san should be looked at as the boss in the game for if she finds out Komi-san’s companion is a cross-dressing Tadano, he’ll be DEAD! She’ll just annihilate him with the thrashes and hits with her hammer. So, Tadano has to be a guy to Lilly and a girl to Isagi. Sounds simple. What if both of them encounter him at once?
The best concoction of comedy can be expected in the next chapter for it will be skyrocketing hilarity to see Tadano handle the game. On the bright side, maybe we’ll get to see the now, slightly opening up Komi-san save the day by uttering words herself and overcoming her societal anxiety. Though, both of them having some bonding time visiting the various stalls at the festival would be a soothing add-on to the readers.
Till then stay tuned and enjoy Christmas. May you all get anime-themed presents. The next translated issue releases mostly on 25th December.
