Fans of the Jagged Alliance series had to wait for more than two decades, but they finally got the third mainline game, Jagged Alliance 3. Released on July 14, 2023, for Microsoft Windows, this latest title is developed by Bulgarian video game development studio Haemimont Games and published by THQ Nordic. So far, the series has been mostly carried by spin-off titles like Jagged Alliance: Rage!, Jagged Alliance: Back in Action, Jagged Alliance: Crossfire, and more. However, now there’s finally a mainline entry. While JA3 is certainly a great entry into the series, some players are having a hard time enjoying the combat due to not finding a way to pause the game.
Jagged Alliance 3 is already a hit among both fans and critics. With the very positive reviews it received on Steam, it is safe to say that there’s still a lot of interest in the series. Now, coming back to the focus of this guide, don’t worry a thing about it. By the end of this article, you will know everything there is to know about pausing in Jagged Alliance 3.
Jagged Alliance 3: How to Pause
Well, Jagged Alliance 3 doesn’t come with a tactical pause feature. Pretty unfortunate, right? We are not sure when the developers are planning to add this feature or if they even have any plans to add a pause feature. Although they might be aware of the demand from the community.
A game without such a basic feature as a pause button can be frustrating for many players, and that’s an understandable fact. Tactical Role-Playing games, or the TRPG genre, are famous for being quite difficult, and many times you need a pause button to strategize and decide your moves. And strategy aside, a pause button is helpful in a lot of situations. If you take a look at the Steam discussion page for the game, there’s a lot of demand from the community for the pause feature to be included in the game. Most of it is concerned with adding pause so that players can use it in real-time mode. Combat in the game, while great, can be annoying at times since there’s no pause option.
Mods?
Now, one great thing about PC games is that we get the best thing of all: mods. There’s nothing like it, really. Once you get hooked on mods, there’s no going back. And we have good news for you. There’s a mod called “Active Pause!” that you can install and use for Jagged Alliance 3. So, what does it do? Well, it does what it says; it introduces a pause feature to the game. So, you can press the Spacebar button on your keyboard to pause the game, but don’t use it during cutscenes. It can cause the game to become unresponsive. Currently, this is your best alternative. However, the mod is quite new, and it might lead to some errors. So just be aware of that if you are going to use it.
Anyway, if the developers do release a pause feature in the next few updates of Jagged Alliance 3, we will be sure to let you know. Until then, don’t forget to bookmark DigiStatement for more such interesting content. Also read: Jagged Alliance 3: How to buy & sell items
