Jagged Alliance 3 is the latest entry in the Jagged Alliance series. Developed by Haemimont Games and published by THQ Nordic, it was officially made available for Windows on July 14, 2023. The general reception of the game has been quite positive, with critics praising it for its impressive gameplay design and overall enjoyable story. As with any newly released game, there’s a lot that players don’t know about. Well, one such in-game mechanic is healing. If you don’t know how to heal in Jagged Alliance 3, consider reading this guide until the end.
Finishing the entire campaign of Jagged Alliance 3 without healing your units is an impossible task. That’s why the game allows you to heal your units. Now, unlike some other gameplay mechanics in the game, you aren’t really spoon-fed information about healing. Players pretty much have to figure it out for themselves. Luckily, this guide will help you with that.
Jagged Alliance 3: How to heal
In Jagged Alliance 3, you have plenty of ways to heal your mercs in the game. However, not every method is suitable for every situation.
Hospital
This one is only recommended if you are getting ample amounts of funds regularly. If not, then it’s better to wait until you get your finances straightened out. Using a Hospital to heal your units doesn’t take any meds and can be done in under an hour. This might sound great, which in a way it is, but the caveat here is that Hospitals can only be used in locations that have them and are controlled by you. Additionally, using a Hospital for healing will subtract a lot of green from your funds. Hence the recommendation about securing ample income.
Healing (During Combat)
Manual healing is the method that you will be using most during combat and exploration. And unlike Hospitals, there really aren’t that many prerequisites for using it. All you need is to either have a med kit or a first aid kit in the inventory of your Medic unit. Then, you can use the Medic on your team, choose the healing skill, and select the mercenary you want to heal. However, this method doesn’t cure wounds.
Healing with time
Believe it or not, time is another alternative way to heal your units. Wounded mercs will start recovering lost HP and wounds over time and eventually recover to full health. However, the downside here is that this takes quite a long time and is not feasible during intense combat situations. However, you can still use this as a method of healing your units during long operations. Medkits and first aid kits aren’t given willy-nilly to the player in the game, so saving them for more important situations is better.
Operations (Remove Wounds)
Like manual healing, you will be using this a lot in the game. The healing will depend on the medical proficiency of your units, so try to recruit and train some good ones. To remove wounds via this method, you can access the Operations tab from the Strategic Map screen, and select the Treat Wounds option. Like other methods, this too has its own downside. Treating Wounds costs meds and if you happen to be using this a lot, you will find yourself out of meds quite frequently. And, healing your units via this process takes time as well.
