With Tekken 8 finally released, the fighting game community can now enjoy all new-gen fighting game titles. Both Street Fighter 6 and Mortal Kombat 1 were released last year in 2023 and this year we got Tekken 8 at long last. Fans are certainly having a great time with the game, as evidenced by the 24-hour peak player count of 25,083 players at the time of publishing this (data sourced from SteamDB). Reviews for the game have been very impressive, thanks to the extremely polished combat and the expansive roster. Suffice it to say, Bandai Namco really outdid themselves with Tekken 8. Now, while the game is perfect on consoles, a lot of players are also curious about how capable the PC version is. And currently, a major question around the game happens to be whether the game is CPU or GPU-intensive.
Questions like this one are always going to be there, for better or worse. And the answer depends a lot on how well the developers have optimized their game. Unfortunately, there happen to be a lot of games that are either GPU or CPU-intensive. Dead Space Remake, The Callisto Protocol, The Lords of the Rings: Gollum are some of the best examples of that. And now that Tekken 8 is such a fresh release, it’s only evident that many would want to know just how CPU or GPU-intensive Tekken 8 is. So, without much further ado, let’s go ahead and find out all about this.
Is Tekken 8 CPU or GPU intensive?

Tekken 8 – CPU or GPU intensive?
By taking a quick look at both the minimum and recommended requirements, Tekken 8 certainly looks like a CPU-intensive title. And for good reason. Being a fighting game, Tekken 8 doesn’t really need that much emphasis on graphics compared to gameplay and combat mechanics. That’s not all, though. Tekken 8 happens to have a rollback netcode, which is quite CPU-intensive, as this player explains here.
Now, before the game’s full release, Bandai did some beta tests for it and like any other game in beta, it suffered from major optimization issues. Fortunately, the developers did their work, and Tekken 8 was released with little to no optimization problems. However, the game does suffer from crashes and random fps drops sometimes, primarily in online mode. So, if you want a smooth gameplay experience, be sure to have a somewhat capable CPU.
