When you have more than 1000 Pokemon to collect, it can get overwhelming pretty fast. Pokemon Go players have been trying their best, but it’s not an easy thing to raise every single one that you have caught. So, it makes sense to take a look at a guide sometime and then decide whether you should invest in a Pokemon or not. This guide, in particular, will focus on the Mega Altaria in Pokemon Go.
Mega Altaria was introduced in the game sometime back in May 2021. And ever since then, there have been many new Mega Evolved Pokemon introduced. So, it is only evident that players would hesitate to invest their resources in it without even knowing if it’s good or not. So, without much further ado, continue reading for more details on the same.
Is Mega Altaria good in Pokemon Go?
As the name suggests, the Mega Altaria is the Mega-evolved version of Altaria. Unlike its regular version, the Mega Altaria is a Dragon and Fairy-type, boasting a max CP of around 3576 in the game. Furthermore, this Pokemon has an attack stat of about 222, a defense stat of 218, and a stamina stat of 181. As to weather boost, windy and cloudy weather are the best ones for it. A shiny variant is also available for the Mega Altaria, which can be identified by its light-yellow color compared to the Mega Altaria’s light blue color.
Resistance & Weakness
The Pokemon is particularly vulnerable to four types, each dealing 160% increased damage: – Poison, Fairy, Ice, and Steel. As for its resistance types, it takes 62.5 reduced damage from the following types:
- Bug
- Water
- Grass
- Dragon
- Dark
- Electric
- Fighting
- Fire
Evolution
The first and base Pokemon in the Altaria family is Swablu. Your Swablu will evolve into Altaria at the cost of about 400 candy. To get a Mega Altaria, you will need 300 Mega Energy and 60 Mega Energy for the subsequent evolutions.
Moves
Quick moves

- Peck [Flying]
Charged Moves
- Dragon Pulse [Dragon]
- Sky Attack [Flying]
- Dazzling Gleam [Fairy]
- Moonblast (Elite TM) [Fairy]
Good, Bad, or Mediocre
The Mega Altaria doesn’t really shine that much when compared to other Dragon-type Mega Evolved Pokemon. Its stats are pretty much average, although its defense is somewhat good. The Dragon Breath and Dazzling Gleam movesets are considered the best for PvE, although you can also use Dragon Breath and Dragon Pulse. The most “unique” thing about the Mega Altaria is its resistance type. Being a Dragon type and resistant to the same type of attacks is one great factor. All in all, the Mega Altaria serves as a more supportive Pokemon in Pokemon Go. A role that fails to outperform other role types. And so, on our Good, Bad, or Mediocre scale, the Mega Altaria falls comfortably on the Mediocre side.
