iRacing offers an immersive racing simulation experience for its users and delivers entertainment even when its servers are down. This feature is known as demo drive and may also be used to test new cars in the game without purchasing them. However, players may find it difficult to access due to several reasons. In this article, we have included the possible fixes to this problem, especially with season 4 around the corner, which will attract users for a demo drive.
iRacing demo drive not working: How to fix it?
The problem with the demo drive not working could be either internal or external. The developers usually notify you about any issues from their end; however, you will have to verify if any issue persists from your side. We have elaborated below on how to do both of these tasks.
First, you should visit the status page of iRacing and visit their forums for announcements about maintenance or errors. Demo drive is usually available during and after the maintenance period.
If everything seems normal, the problem could likely be with the simulation or UI. In that case, follow the steps below:
- Update or reinstall the graphics driver and go for a ‘clean install’.
- Locate the folder by following the path: C:\Users\*username*\Documents\iRacing and change it to iRacingbackup instead. Make sure to change only the last bit, while the rest remains the same.
- Restart the iRacing service manually. Locate the game files by following the installation path. For example, it could be at C:\Program Files (x86)\ iRacing. Run Stop_iRacingService.bat and then Start_iRacingService.bat. Then go to the UI folder and launch iRacingUI.exe.
- Delete the Ui cache by first entering %appdata% in the file browser search bar. Then delete the iRacing-electron folder and relaunch the UI. After this, you need to open the iRacing UI and head to Updates Available. You are required to manually download the required car or track. If it says ‘update required’ or the update is stuck, you need to head to the iRacing installation folder and delete tracks.dat and version.txt files and then reopen UI, this will force a fresh re-download.
- Try reinstalling the Easy Anti-Cheat and disabling antivirus software and firewall.
- Close the game and try unplugging all the external devices and re-plugging them one at a time after relaunching the game.
